TESU General Education Requirements Plan - What do you think?
#1
So here's my plan to complete the general ed requirements for a BALS at TESU. I've selected for general preference/cost/speed of completion. If InstantCert flashcards are available for a very similar course, I've listed that as (IC) and plan to rely on them where it makes sense for me.

Do you see anything I messed up? Big Grin

The only issue I see is that intro to psychology is a 2 credit class at Saylor. Not 3. Also, you could take the ethics class at the institutes for free.

Ah, dang, I didn't know that about the Saylor psych course. Guess I'll have to substitute Straighterline. Regarding the Institutes, that's a 2 credit course that they wave the requirement, right? But you still have to scrounge up that credit somewhere. Am I right in thinking the cornerstone is 1 credit and will plug the gap?

The Intro Sociology course at Saylor is only 1 Credit, so you! will want to find an alternate for that as well

I'd stay away from Saylor.org, ALEKS, and Straighterline as much as possible for speed reasons. USE DSST's, Cleps, and Study.com as much as you can. Use Study.com and instantcert.com to study for CLEPS\DSST, one a week is a good part time pace. CLEPS\DSST are quick and easy, while study.com is more thorough, you can take two of their credit courses a month, and they have study materials for CLEP\DSST\ECE\TECEP tests.

Use these lists to find out what is accepted by TESU.

Clep
CLEP - College-Level Exam Program

DSST
DSST (formerly DANTES)

Keep in mind you may have an upper credit requirement, and more DSST's are upper level than CLEPS and alternative credits.

Good Luck, I recommend you make a spreadsheet of the classes you need to take and have it printed off at a kinko's so you can hang that baby on the wall, Mine is 4x3. I'll see if I can attach it to give you an idea of what it looks like. I'm shooting for a double major Biz and Psych in under 1 year while working 50 hours a week, running 2 small biz's, and managing a household.

I don't see why you'd avoid ALEKS. Its $20 and you can complete 4 classes in the month if youre fast. That's on par with the speed you suggested for the CLEP's at 1/5th the cost.'

I'm doing all my math and statistics through ALEKS, it is cheap, but there it looked like more work involved than a simple CLEP or DSST. My plan is geared more towards speed.

Thanks for pointing that out, I have yet to complete a ALEKS.

I also don't see why you'd stay away from Saylor. It's just a test like CLEP, DSST, or TECEP. I haven't found them to be any harder to study for than a CLEP, in fact I used Saylor to study for the Sociology CLEP and the Anthropology DSST.

If anything, I've learned that Shmoop requires the most work. ( Studying aside). It has roughly 10-14 tests to be taken.
