TESU Equivalents
#1
Hello everyone, newbie here. I just need a bachelors degree in Business Administration, don’t care which one, just the faster the better. I intend to use Sophia however and can’t find anywhere what classes will convert into what TESU classes, I understand that the partnership no longer exists, but where’s a list of classes and their TESU equivalent? Also, is the NYU Language test still credited at TESU? Any help and tips would be much much appreciated.

If you're settling with a BSBA at TESU, I would review the links provided above, but also keep an option open, to use other ACE options and ACTFL for potentially more credits at about the same price range if not cheaper (depending on the language you're referring to). You may consider NCCRS options as well... You may want to review this template and addendum (last post): https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

I am seeing on the link that it says up to 16cr, but does anyone know what the NYU test transfers in as to TESU?

If I'm you, I'm considering some other options (especially if you don't have 24cr of RA to bring in). Top choices: EC and UMPI.

Then, if you haven't already taken the NYU Language test, I'm going to switch to the ACTFL - you have 4 options for many of the languages, and you can get more credits for less money than NYU.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NYU Language Proficiency Exams
Exam Fees
12-Point Exam $529 + $20 registration fee = $549
16-Point Exam $629 + $20 registration fee = $649
4-Point Exam $329 + $20 registration fee = $349 (add-on exam)
(Students must have previously scored 8 points or higher on the 12-point exam to be eligible for the 4-point exam)
It takes 2-3 weeks to get your score.

12-Point Exam
Parts 1 – 2 consist of short texts and/or small illustrations, with THREE questions each: 2 Multiple Choice, 1 Short Answer.
Part 3 You are allowed 60 seconds to record an oral response to a recorded prompt.
Parts 4 includes a short audio (40-60 seconds). You can replay the audio TWICE as you answer the three questions that follow: 2 Multiple Choice, 1 Short Answer.
Parts 5 – 6 consist of short texts and/or small illustrations, with THREE questions each: 2 Multiple Choice 1 Short Answer.
Part 7 You are allowed 90 seconds to record an oral response to a recorded prompt.
Parts 8 includes a short audio (40-60 seconds). You can replay the audio TWICE as you answer the three questions that follow: 2 Multiple Choice, 1 Short Answer.
Part 9 is a short essay. Choose ONE of the four offered topics and write an essay of approximately 100/250 words in «Language» (NOT in English).
Part 10 is a translation. Translate the English-language text into «Language» (NOT in English).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ACTFL exams are cheaper, you get your score immediately, and you can choose which one(s) you want to take.

ORAL PROFICIENCY INTERVIEW (you can only choose 1):
- OPIc (computerized) $108
- OPI (live person) $165
(worth up to 6 UL + 6 LL credits)

WRITTEN PROFICIENCY TEST $108
(worth up to 6 UL + 6 LL credits)

LISTENING PROFICIENCY TEST $51
(worth up to 6 LL credits)

READING PROFICIENCY TEST $51
(worth up to 6 LL credits)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To compare:
NYU exam - $549 for 12cr, all LL
ACTFL OPIc exam - $108 for 12cr, half LL and half UL
CLEP - free through Modern States, up to 9cr, all LL

So obviously if you are getting a BSBA, and you don't need a ton of credits in something like a foreign language, you'd be better off spending $51 on the LPT or RPT and getting 6cr of LL; or doing the CLEP for free and getting 9cr of LL.

This all assumes that you're taking something like Spanish or French or German - if you're taking something else, you should prob post it here and we can tell you what you could take (if you're interested).

French is going to be available for all 4 ACTFL exams, and CLEP.

If you want to take the CLEP exam, you only need to do ModernStates if you want to take the exam for free; if you just want to pay for it and be done with it, then you can do that instead.

Am I going to need 24 RA credits? Do they need to be done through classes? I thought I could just test out of most of them. Please if someone can explain what a plan looks like at TESU for someone that wants to do it as efficient as possible. BSBA. I have College Algebra and Introduction to Business done through Sophia Learning. I also will have 9 credits of French, through French Level 2 CLEP

Yes, TESU requires 30 RA credits. 6 of these can be from the capstone and cornerstone. The remaining 24 must be from another RA school. Currently, the easiest & cheapest ways to do this are: TECEPs ($150 or $225 per exam), Olivet Nazarene ($150 per self-paced class), TEL Learning ($200, with two exams plus multiple assignments per course), and Arizona State University Universal Learner ($25 + $400 transcription fee per course).

Did you check the wiki Roadmap page? We usually suggest students start creating their own spreadsheets because each person's needs are unique. A plan tailored to Person A may be absolutely terrible for Person B. Example: Saylor is usually not recommended, because even at $5 a course the courses can take a long time to complete and could wind up costing more in the long run. But there are some people who love Saylor enough to do multiple courses there. They're not wrong to do so, but most students here would probably prefer a different provider, if given the choice.
