CLEP is free if you go through Modern States. You get a voucher for the exam fee, then you pay the test center fee but get reimbursed within a couple months.

Well, officially started this week and I am up to 15 credit hours already.  Decided to get started with the Shmoop site for a month.  Taking some Gen Ed courses there while taking Area of Study UL classes at Saylor.  Took my first proctored exam with no issues.

Once I convert all my existing knowledge to credits Ill develop the plan for filling in the gaps.  I'm really liking the price point per credit hour for Shmoop.  I think I can drive that cost below the $25 per class making it a more cost effective option than Saylor for any classes that I may not be able to simply take the test and be done with it.

SO my next question is when should I apply to TESU and can someone give me any pitfalls or known mistakes I should look out for?

It would be best to apply this month or next, register for a TECEP, and take it in Feb or March. This is because changes might come about in April or May. However, changes can happen sooner too.

Register with the Study.com affiliation so you don't have to get it added later.

Looks like I got the Guardian Scholarship so I guess Ill be putting Saylor on hold for a few months...

Current affiliate agreement between study.com and TESU expires in June 2018.

From reading some other posts on this subject it looks like I should apply to TESU, take the Eng1 TECEP in March to lock in my catalog, Register for the Cornerstone in May to lock in the cheap per credit pricing, and just be prepared for my residency waiver to go up...

That's not what I would do.  I would apply now, take at least 2 Study.com courses, add the Study.com affiliate membership to your enrollment, take ANY TECEP that you think you can pass to enroll and lock in a catalog, NOT take the Cornerstone (waiver with Study.com membership), and then yes, be prepared for your RW to go up after June 30.

Not sure where you got the idea that the Cornerstone locks in per-credit pricing, because it doesn't.  The Cornerstone doesn't lock in anything.  And the discounted per-credit tuition plan pricing will only be in effect for any TESU courses that you register for before June 30 due to the Study.com membership.  So if you don't register for your capstone by then, there is no way to "lock in" any sort of pricing.

Yeah I misspoke, I mean register for the capston in order to lock in the cheaper pricing based on being a study.com student specifically applied to the per credit pricing on the capstone.

Scaffdog, I think you're on the hot seat for thinking of Saylor exams. I was once a Saylor fanatic as they are cheap, however; things turned in favor for SL/Study.com shortly afterward (easier to pass and saves me a lot of time for a little bit more). In fact, I had a template made entirely for Saylor exams but decided not to add it to my spreadsheets list, I might actually just add it back after I make some minor adjustments...

Have a read in the Beginners Guide, I copied a template from dfrecore and customized it with mainly SL/Study.com courses. It's got the BSBA GM template and within the guide, I have the Marketing AOS as well. You should start with the FREE courses, it'll be used in your Free Electives section. Then work on those general education courses, professional business ones, and finish it off with the AOS/Capstone.

What is your opinion on the GM focus over the Marketing. It’s seems to be a commonly held thought that the GM is easier, but I’m not sure why.

GM just has more courses available, since you can pull from multiple business areas.

If you want a marketing degree, then get that instead.  I always feel like it's better to focus if there's a specific area you want to work in (or are already working in).  I am getting my BSBA in HR, because I worked in HR, and already had a bunch of courses that worked in the AOS.  It was actually LESS work for me to get the HR than GM.

I've been working on Saylor courses now -- rather, just taking the final tests because the material is dry and I get tired after like 30 minutes of reading.

Only thing I can't figure out is where to get 1 credit to make up for the free 2 credit ethics course, so even though I did it a while ago, I took it out for the time being.
