TESU BSBA Degree Plan in General Management
#11
The ACE transcript is not helpful at all - because it doesn't matter what ACE says, only what TESU will bring those credits in as. What they will give as course equivalencies (course numbers).

The problem I see here is that the BSBA in (Gen Mgmt or Fin) won't accept a lot of the CFT credits into the plan. It's not that TESU won't accept them - it's just that there is not a lot of places for many of these credits to go with that particular degree plan. They just don't "fit". If you look on TESU's website at the degree requirements, there are 60cr in the Core/AOS/Free Electives. But, the Core has 36 set requirements, with an additional 18cr in the AOS. That only leaves 6cr of free electives. TESU has placed a bunch of the courses under "Other Courses" at the bottom. That means that there's just nowhere to put some of these courses.

For the BSBA in Finance, it's actually worse. That's because more of the courses are not related to FIN, and won't fit into the AOS (there are only 2 of them listed in there now). The good news is that you can bring some of them in under the Gen Mgmt AOS - ACC-311, ECO-332 and MAR-311 will all work, and all are UL which is nice.

So my advice, between the two AOS's is to stick with Gen Mgmt - you should actually get MORE courses into the plan that way, not less. Have them move Human Relations in Business up to Knowledge of Human Cultures area (they had it there for FIN), because not only is it more helpful there, but you have too many lower level courses in the AOS anyway - so taking that one out and using it somewhere else is a better deal for you.

For the final AOS course, I would recommend that you take Saylor's Business Stats course after you take ALEKS's Intro to Stats (required), or Sl's Managerial Accounting after taking Accounting II (required) or SL's Org Behavior. Those will be your cheapest options for an UL course in there.

Then it's just a matter of filling in the remaining blanks of the plan.

I might also advise you to try COSC and see if you can't get a better deal there. Their plan is a bit more flexible than TESU's in some ways, and you might be able to get more of the credits into a BSBA there.

Good luck!

Thanks Dfrecore,

This is extremely helpful. The work you did on the excel spreadsheet was exactly what I was looking for (where to plot classes). I have just a couple more questions:

What's Shmoop?
Are all the classes marked $100.00 CLEPS? If not, what are they?

I have been off the boards for a while and I am only familiar with the old stuff: CLEP, DSST, ALEKS, Saylor and Straighterline, so please forgive me if I am a bit rusty.

Thanks again so much. I keep telling my DH, there's a reason why I keep my InsantCert account...it's because the information and help people can get (like the work you did for me) and the broad range of knowledge of online and less expensive alternatives to a college/university education is priceless! Also, most senior people on here really understand online learning and accreditation... plus by keeping in touch with the new folks, we can all help each other avoid wasting time and money in the higher education system. When the education bubble finally bursts, it's this forum that will become a life-blood for many...it's already starting! Again, I can't thank you enough. THANK YOU and have a wonderful day! I can't wait to post the next "I finished" post Smile

Shmoop is a new resource where you can take up to 3 history courses for $25 for a month's subscription. The price will be going up on August 26 though, so I would advise anyone who wants to take them to take them now, and finish ASAP.

For any course where it's marked as $100, but doesn't have a name attached, it's because there are multiple places where you can take it, and you get to decide. The $100 is just an estimate of how much each course will cost.

Previously, people would PM me and ask "can I substitute this for that?" "can this be taken somewhere else?" so I've decided to try to make the spreadsheet more generic. Sorry, I didn't completely go all the way yet, I'm still playing with it.

So, use Sanantone's wiki page to figure out where you want to take each course. Even if it's on my spreadsheet as having a particular place to take it, you can really do whatever you want.
