TESU BS Physics+Chemistry waiver

There were several reports in 2020 and earlier of people who reported getting a waiver. Here's the last example I've found so far:

Don't you have to take Chem I & II, or Physics I & II?

No, I wanted to be very sure about that detail so I got approval (in writing) to do 1 and 1 of each from the department head. I'm not sure if it's an exception or not. I did already have other 4cr Science/Labs I transferred in from a B/M University plus a bunch of other Science courses so maybe that's why they approved the request? I have no idea.

Has anything changed since then in how TESU worded or applied the science requirement?

I'm not seeing what's different. The requirements table is exactly the same on the 2020 and 2023 links.

You're only looking at the bottom 'Degree Requirements' box not the degree requirements as a whole - LOOK UP at Section II Technical Studies (55 Credits) area, this is where they now 'spell it out' that the II with lab is required (that was not included back in 2020)

No, those are just recommended courses. They added that to every degree in recent catalog revisions. As has been documented elsewhere, those courses are just an illustration of what might work and are not a restriction.

Looking at a what-if assessment, the evaluation does show that you need Physics I + Physics II OR Chem I + Chem II. All with labs. I don't know if it's possible to get a waiver for these or not.

Excellent idea to check the 'What If', and as I said earlier, they've made it clear (2023-2024 Catalog)... You're going to need that II with lab Chemistry or Physics (It really is too bad that it couldn't be Biology I & II)

So, we have verification with the 'what if' option I mentioned in post #6? Actually, you can get this done entirely through Study.com with their Chem I & II equivalency. Including the labs, as they updated the equivalency now... I would double check as the Chem I & II previously duplicated each other on Study.com until they made the change recently. Heck, be on the safe side and also do Physics I & II, just without the labs. You can petition a waiver for the lab credit and ask for another course to take instead...

The updated equivalency is not Gen Chem w/labs, it's Basic Chem w/o labs - so doing those is probably a waste of time - TESU may not accept them as meeting the requirement at all.  You'd have to check.

Instead, you should do one of the following, since the SDC Physics courses are the correct equivalencies at TESU:
A)
Physics I & II through SDC
Physics I Lab through SL (1 mo membership)
Physics II lab at TESU
$1,249 (assumes no discounts, no shipping costs)
--OR--

B)
Physics I w/Lab at SL (1 mo membership)
Physics II at SDC
Physics II lab at TESU
$1,210.50 (assumes no discounts, no shipping costs, and only 1/2 the cost for a SDC membership for the month, which in turn assumes you're taking another course at SDC)
$1,328 (assumes no discounts, no shipping costs, and the full cost for a SDC membership for the month as if you only took this single course there)

It probably will.  The only issue is going to be that it's semester-based.  So you can only do Physics I in Fall and then Physics II in Spring.  That's a very long time to put off your degree.

EDIT: I just looked, and they no longer offer Algebra-based Physics I w/Lab and Algebra-based Physics II w/Lab online - so the only option is Survey of Physics.  Probably not going to meet TESU's requirements.

Clovis CC in NM (vs CA) also has very good tuition rates and they do offer Chemistry I & II (and labs) online. I don't see Chemistry offered at NM Jr College
