Is anyone pursuing this degree through TESU? My daughter (19) submitted her TESU application with 60 ACE earned college credits a few weeks ago. They were incredibly quick to reply with her evaluation. Most of the credits earned so far are simply general eds because she was also earning high school credits at the same time. Anyway, her application listed Liberal Arts and now she is fine-tuning and thinking more on the lines of Sports/Communications. She's even looked into Master degree programs that may meet the needs of her desired career goals. Xavier University looked good to her. She is interested in sports, website updating, video productions, photography, communications, assistant coaching, and etc. So, she sees herself heading into the direction of NCAA (not as a player!), ESPN, University settings, etc. She's researching options and it looks like Communications degree may be the route to take.
We would greatly appreciate anyone who has experience with this degree, or with this career, or with any words of wisdom! Thanks. Debbie

This is a degree at TESU that can be tested out of, so you could certainly look into that.
The Ohio University has an online MSA in Sports Administration that is a business degree, and it has 6 residencies in 21-months. So if she was looking at something like that, she might want to get the BSBA instead or in addition to the Comm degree.
I would probably research the sports degrees first, and see what the best option is there. This is probably going to be one of those degrees where networking is a huge deal. I would spend as little as possible on the first degree, and spend the time and money on the Master's degree that gives her the most bang for her buck in terms of reputation and time spent on campus. With someone as young as her, spending a couple of years getting the BA/BS, and working and saving money to be able to pay for that masters would be a great use of her time.

If TESU doesn't fit her needs, you may want to look at Hodges Upower program, it's a competency based degree.
The Digital Design & Graphics program hits the following points you're looking for - "website, video production, photography, communications".
I think it's more advertising, marketing, publishing, web/magazine design with a dash of public relations and television/video production.
Further to that, the tuition fees are very affordable for their Associates, Bachelors and Masters Upower programs.
They even have a Masters in Visual Communications for individuals who have a Bachelors in a similar field.
"Students who have earned bachelorâs degrees in design, media, advertising, art, marketing, branding, business, communications and English would be excellent candidates."

Thanks for both responses! I really appreciate your encouragement and support. As she looks further into this degree through TESU, she's finding it difficult to match up the required courses though alternate channels for the Communications degree. Defrecore, you said, "This is a degree at TESU that can be tested out of, so you could certainly look into that." Do you have experience finding these courses? Thanks so much! I agree with the statement of spending most of the money at the master's level.

It will be more expensive than the other degrees, because many of the Comm courses will come from CSU-Global CBE's at $250 each.

Well, that's where you're going to have to work with them. You'll have to be an enrolled student and get them pre-approved for the degree.
