TESU ASBA plus BSBA FREE?

Hi folks!

I remember a couple of people saying that you can get your ASBA on the way to your BSBA for "free" somehow. Can someone speak on how to do that please?

you can apply for both at the same time with one grad fee.

you're still paying for everything else as normal, of course.

If you get the ASBA first and then get the BSBA, you pay two graduation fees.
If you get both the ASBA and BSBA at the same time then you pay the one graduation fee.
TESU added a new fee, the residency waiver fee which no one is really sure how it will work.
Some of the courses you complete for the BSBA will apply to the requirements for the ASBA.
It works with other associate degrees as well. TESU allows an associate degree and a bachelors degree to be earned at the same time with one graduation fee.

You basically summed it up in your question... you "get it on your way to the BSBA".
Essentially, the ASBA contain the same selective BSBA courses totaling 60 credits.

Finish those 60 credits and you have the ASBA, complete the remaining 60 credits for the BSBA.
If you want, print out or create a spreadsheet of the required ASBA courses.
Then on another sheet, create a list of required courses for the BSBA.

Make sure you complete the ASBA requirements and move those to the BSBA requirements field.
Lastly, complete the remaining BSBA requirements and you're done.
Pay 1 graduation, 1 residency waiver, and any other fees outstanding, then get the degree!

I actually did this backwards from what bjcheung77 stated - I created the spreadsheet for the BSBA, then marked which ones needed to be completed for the ASBA. You might use it to do things in a specific order, or not. For example, the ASBA doesn't require College Algebra or Stats - so you might leave those until later. But, since you need at least 2 math courses for the ASBA (Quantitative Lit requirement and Math requirement), you might take Intermediate Algebra and College Algebra just because you know you're going to need them. Of course, you could always take an easier math course (College Math CLEP for 6cr or the Applied Math TECEP and something else), but it really does just make sense to get those Algebra courses done. Same with Microecon & Macroecon. They're not required for the ASBA, but are for the BSBA. So you might take them, use them for the ASBA toward the GE area, and then later move them to the Core for the BSBA (you're allowed to do that).

If you're applying for graduation for both the ASBA and BSBA at the same time, then it doesn't matter. But, if you're applying for the ASBA first, with the intention of doing the BSBA fairly quickly afterwards, then it pays to pay attention to the requirements of the BSBA so that you don't have any wasted credits in the end.

So it is possible to earn an Associates in lets say Computer Science, while completing a Bachelor's in Accounting? If I was to just finish out my Bachelors could I then do an Associates for Computer Science within a year and be waived the Residency Fee for the Assoicates?

If this is "doable" where can I get 16 credits in Computer Science Quickly. And Does CIS-107 Computer Concepts and Applications Count as Computer Science. The Information Systems CLEP is very doable if that will count. I will be at 6 then. Also do any of the TEEX Cyber Security count for either Computer Science or Understanding the Physical & Natural World as I would need 2 more credits aside from my Bachelors to get this.

I'd really like someone who specialized with TESU stuff to PM me, if Doing both of these at the same time is manageable it would qualify me for two different higher tiered positions with NYS Civil Service. Would be awesome.

If you do an associates in computer science while doing a BSBA in accounting then you may have to take extra courses. Some of the computer science requirements might not fit into the gen ed section. The BSBA in accounting only has 6 credits of free electives. It would work well if the computer science courses were already taken and being transferred in.
If the associate in computer science is completed after the BSBA the second degree rules apply. 12 new credits in the AOS must be completed after the BSBA is awarded.
The BSBA allows two AOS to be completed in the same degree Accounting and CIS but would also require extra courses to be completed.

The ASNSM in Computer Science may work. Most of the requirements should easily fit into the gen ed section for the BSBA. It does have 9 credit of specific requirements (Courses can include: Assembly Language Programming; Compiler Construction; Data Structures; Numerical Analysis; Linear Algebra (Cal culus Based); Discrete Math; Discrete Structures; Switching Theory and Automation). I did a what if and it showed CIS 102 (Excelsior Business Information Systems), CIS 107 TECEP and MIS as satisfying the computer science electives. The associates degree does not require any UL courses so the needed courses can be completed at CC. For the Computer Science courses TESU can be picky about what will count so it is a good idea to get computer science courses preapproved.

Just wondering, but would there be a point in getting an ASBA and then a BSBA in General Management? It seems it would be redundant or am I missing something?
