TESC questions
#1
There are probably answers to all my questions somewhere on this forum but I don't know where to look so I'll ask...

I would like a degree in Humanities from TESC. I'd like to do straight testing out too. At what point do I have to sign up to TESC? I'm only taking tests right now to accumulate credits, I haven't enrolled yet.

What tests do I have to take? Is there any math involved (HATE!!!!!! MATH!)?
So far, I've taken US History 1, astronomy and I'm working on sociology. It's not much, I know, but I'd like to see a degree plan to know where I'm going, study similar tests at the same time, etc.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. TESC site is pretty confusing to me and I've found that talking to someone who has actually finished their degree or is working towards it, is a much bigger help than any website.

Aubs--- I am not a Humanities major but I will try to answer a few questions. First you need to look over the course requirements for your degree here. Print this off because you will refer to it many, many times before you are done. It states that they require one college math course. If you hate math--no worries-- you can do ALEKS which is a self paced math program that you do online at home. It has saved much grief for the math challenged Smile Do a search on here about ALEKS and find out all about it. By looking over the course list you need to pick tests that fit those requirements. Some of this you will have to do some research on your own by reading this forum and using the search function at the top of the page. When I first started, I literally spent tons of hours on this forum sifting through posts to get as much info as I could.

I did not apply to TESC until I was less than 20 credits shy of completing my degree. Thanks to this forum supplying so much info I was able to create a roadmap and follow it until the last few credits. Once you apply for $75 (this is different than enrolling) you get an evaluation of your credits and what they will take and where they will put them. Because I had lots of B&M credits I wasn't sure what they would take and where they would put them. I just got my evaluation this week and I was pretty happy with everything except one course. Now that I know what I am dealing with I am going to enroll (which this fee lasts for one year) because I know I can complete the remaining credits in a few months and be done. The key is to try to time it so you are almost done before you enroll so you can complete everything in a year and not repeat the enrollment fee. Hope this helps and you can do it Smile

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I feel much more comfortable now.

And good luck on your degree. So jealous that you're so close to finishing. Wink
