TESC questions- Capstone, credit banking, etc
#1
I "applied" (paid the $75) to TESC in December because I am sure I'm going to graduate through them and wanted to see if and how they'd apply my miscellaneous credits from 15+ years ago. My most recent updated evaluation for a BA in Social Sciences says this under the Concentration area: "**It is highly recommended that course LIB-495 be completed to satisfy 3 semester hours of this requirement.**" I thought the Capstone was mandatory now?

Also, I won't be able to finish my degree requirements in the next several months. I read on this forum about credit banking at TESC. My questions: *After the 6 months are up, will they retain all the transcripts and credits they currently have? *What if I add more (use their code in the exams I take) while not enrolled? *If not, it seems cheaper to have all the CC, CLEP, DSST transcripts resent to them than to pay the $300-$400 I read here. True, or... ?

Thanks for any info you can give.
CLEP's and DSST's passed: Fund. of Counseling, Tech Writing, Here's to your Health, Intro to Computers, Analyzing and Interpreting Lit, Human Growth and Devel, Intro to Soc., Crim Just, Law Enforcement, Env. and Humanity, Astronomy.
Completed 2 PLA's through LearningCounts.org.
Completed Capstone at TESC.

-The capstone is mandatory for all BA degees, the preliminary eval may not reflect it but I'm sure they'll make you take the course.
-6 months is the limit after applying. You get a year worth of enrollment when you do finally pay so you may want to wait it out a few months and see how things are going and you may discover that you can finish it out in a year. If all else fails you would reapply and most likely face the same evaluation (although that isn't guaranteed). Most changes (like the capstone as an example) are completed when TESC remakes its catalog each July, although other changes like the AAS capstone come out of nowhere. You'd just order another transcript from each school/exam company again and be back where you started (most likely). It's up to you in this case, you can enroll and pay them the money or reapply at a later date and hope nothing changes too much. As far as credit banking goes it is mostly a waste if you are planning to stay at TESC. When you are finally ready, you can always order a new transcript from CLEP, DSST, or anyone else, the difference may be that TESC could change degree requirements, course equivelants, or fees for anyone not "locked in" to a catalog year (done by paying the enrollment fee).

Good luck to you on finishing your degree.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.
