I am wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a calculator that can be used on the DSST Stats test. My testing center has said that a calculator is built into the software but that you can bring your own as well. Any thoughts on if my own calculator is needed?
Also any thoughts on the difficulty of this exam? I really need to pass on my first go - I've been using the Pass Your Class Principles of Statistics DSST Study guide as well as the instacert flash cards. I have also done an online review course of statistics through the Online Learning Initiative. I took stats in undergrad but have to either take it again or pass the DSST for my grad school program.
Appreciate the help! Thanks!

I always say if you are comfortable with your own (and it is a non-programmable one), bring it. Why worry about how to use the one that is built in?

As I recall, I didn't need a statistics calculator. You don't enter a bunch of numbers and compute a standard deviation. You're given something like the mean, the sum of the (Xbar - Xi)squared and you blow those into the formula to subtract and divide your way to the standard deviation.

If you've read the posts on InstaCert, you know that this exam has a very liberal grading curve. Bring a computer as each version of the test is diferent. Make sure it's non-programable. If you must take the test by a certain date, I would recommend checking with your testing center ahead of time so that they know that your non-porgrammable calculator is acceptable.
