I spoke with a TESC advisor yesterday (May 13) and was told that I could not use the DSST Business Ethics & Society course in my BSBA core area section G. He said that my PHI-384 SL Ethics course in the responsibility area would duplicate. Can anyone corroborate this? I distinctly remember others here stating that these two did not duplicate. I really wanted and needed to use the DSST course. What are alternatives?

I had heard the same. It definitely was the case before, something has changed in the evaluations department. See this recent thread...begin reading from post 9.
I would take the DSST exam and wait for it to be updated to your transcript and run an online evaluation. This has happened before with other courses in which the advisors say one thing but the evaluators handle it much differently. A few forum members were told PF financial management would not transfer in as FIN-301. If memory serves, it was Geezer who told us otherwise and posted a screenshot of his sons acad eval. He was right.
Note, duplicates usually have the same course codes. They may not in the beginning, but as soon as TESC sees too many using the same exam/course(s) they will recode. (ex ALEKS business stats, intro stats) That was not done in this case.
Of course I may be wrong but cannot mistake the obvious, one couse is Humanites, the other is Business. You could also always call in and ask to speak to someone on the course evaluations team. I've done it a few times in the past.

Just for clarity, by what other members have experienced:
- SL PHI-384 business ethics and BUS-302-DE business ethics in society will fill the Business in Society/Int'l Management slot.
- SL PHI-384 business ethics and PHI-287-DE ethics in america will fill the Responsible Ethical Leadership slot.
BUS-302-DE (or BUS-311-TE) has always filled the business core requirement. The Dantes exam is filling a Business in Society/International Mgmt slot. That slot is not the ethics requirement.
Separately, an exception to the above statement where all duplicates are coded the same: BUS-311-TE TECEP Busines in Society WILL DUPLICATE with the BUS-302-DE Dantes exam.

Another exception is that TESC no longer accepts both DSSTs for law enforcement and criminal justice even though they're coded differently. I don't trust anything the phone reps say. You're better off sending an email and having it sent to the business school.

I just realized I answered this question but indirectly.
The alternative:
If you are uncomfortable with advice given, take PHI-287-DE ethics in america instead of BUS-302-DE. PHI-384 will then move to business core G and PHI-287 will fill the ethics leadership requirement.
I sort of wish I was still working on my BSBA, I would take all three and see where they land. I have a feeling BUS-302 would move down to business electives and i am a believer in getting full use of similar material.
