TESC Rumors True --- it's becoming a University (big changes to follow)
#1
According to this Article in the Wall Street Journal the rumors regarding TESC being granted University status are true. Thomas Edison is bigger than most people realize. Currently, it is right behind Rutgers in size, and once it becomes a university it will be New Jersey's second largest public university. Gov. Christie had tried to merge TESC with Rutgers a couple years ago, but both institutions objected due to different focuses in terms of their educational missions.

The new plan looks to create Thomas Edison State University, were their focus will be to provide the nation's preeminent "online" university. They are also expanding their nursing program and will start offering a Doctor of Nursing. However, the article also mentions that accreditation for a university is a more "rigorous" process and hints at additional changes, but the article is vague on details. Although, the article does mention recent changes TESC has already started to implement, such as aligning their curriculum to the national model recommended by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU).

Interesting! I think the less TESC advertises, them more I like them.

When I think of the nation's preeminent, I think of most known, which in the realm of online universities, is not necessarily a good thing.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Thanks for the laugh!

On a side note, it's a great thing Christie and the NJ government didn't end up merging TESC into Rutgers... the reason was to cut costs and it would have eviscerated what little subsidy TESC gets from the NJ state government. (i.e. we'd all be paying for it)

Are you in the Eastern time zone? If so, that would explain that you thought you were posting on April 1. Your post appears to me as being made on March 31, not April 1.

I was up at midnight last night when I posted this and I swear it posted as "Today 12:01 AM" then this morning it said "Yesterday 11:01 PM", and now at my office it says "Today 12:01 AM" again.

Yep, you posted it today, @ 12:01, Eastern time.
What happened with the 11:01 is you weren't logged in when you saw it. Because you weren't logged in, your settings and times weren't correct and as such day light savings wasn't taken into account. When you logged in again, it says 12:01. Big Grin

But, I must say that was great and you got me. I wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing for TESC, but I thought it was happening. I was like what rumors are true? Haven't heard any. lol It took me the second time when I popped in on this thread to catch it. How creative, well done! Very nice!!
