While waiting for my TESC initial eval., I'm trying to brainstorm some possible scenarios with subsequent options.
My transcript from a California CC showsa remedial 3 hr composition course (Engl 67), a "Degree Appropriate" (but not transferable to senior institutions) 3hr composition course (Engl 68), and senior college 4hr Compostion (Engl 1A).
Just for info:
California college requirements for degree level communication (written and oral) can be met with this Engl 1A Comp., Spch 1A Public Speaking, and Psych 5 Critcal Thinking - a writing instensive course - all of which I have for my fully transferable 60 hr AA within the California system.
My BSAST degree requires ENC 101,102 and Eng-201. Now depending on whether TESC gives me credit for Comp II, I am trying to think about how to complete the Tech Writing req. Another constraint: Even though I qualify for extra time on essay writing tests, I try to avoid these as much as possible because the time constraint prevents me from showing all of my true skills at writing the finished product.
Scenario 1: I get credit for Comp II Enc 102, then I go for the DSST multiple choice test for Tech Writing
Scenario 2: I have to take Comp II - I fill it with the independent study Straighterline Engl 102, then DSST the Tech Writing
Scenario 3: I appeal the initial denial of Comp II (the syllabus of my Engl 1A clearly covers the same content) and "negotiate" by paying for the TESC guided study Tech Wriiting if that could swing the argument in my favor
As an additonal aside: Would TESC accept the Penn Foster Bus. Tech Writing course for their requirement?
Comments? Other Options? Scenarios?
