Yes, for a BSLS at EC, 50 credits can be lower-level applied professional (free elective). Rickyjo transferred a lot of FEMA credit through FCC (or CCC - I have forgotten which he chose for price) last year to complete his associate degree in liberal arts at EC. I have not heard that they accept FEMA raw, but it could be worth rechecking, since they allow so many free electives.
Also, if you have an ACE transcript for something else like ALEKS, you can add 3 NFA credits for free. They are accepted at EC as applied professional.
For Art, you may want to ask at EC about getting an Area of Focus (like a minor), which is 15 LL and 6 UL credits.

I dont think you can use Fema courses for anything not security. Not fully sure though. I was trying to attach the TESC Equiv chart I have but dont know how. So maybe if someone else could that would be a great help here Im sure.

Also, are any of these FEMA courses considered upper level? I know EC once took them as free electives. As far as I know they will not accept them raw as TESC and COSC will. I believe EC requires them from Frederick (Frederick CC is actually a few blocks from the FEMA EM Institute). Look at the forum Wiki under fema for a few other schols that might help you transfer the credit.....though I suspect in your case TESC or COSC are a better fit.

Yes, there are specific degrees that FEMA can be used for the credits within the major, as you suggest. At the Big 3, FEMA can also be used for the free electives section of other degrees.

Ok. After much deliberating, I STILL decided to go with TESC for the following reasons that outweigh the offerings of EC & COSC:
1. They accept EMI credits "raw" without going thru FCC, which saves me quite a bit of time, and approx $2000+.
2. Their upper-level requirements are the fairest of the 3 with only 18 being required, which saves me doing around 4 extra classes or tests.
3. They have agreed to accept a few D grades of Gen Ed classes that I REALLY didnt want to re-do, without me having to pay for an appeal. Excelsior refused to accept them, and COSC offered to accept them on appeal.
4. They offer upper-level credit for several Straighterline classes. And I have finished 6 within just a few weeks. Keep in mind I have NOTHING on my hands but absolute free time for school, so I was able to dedicate myself to completing them within that time frame.
5. TESC does not require students to take Capstones, or Residency courses, or burdens like "Information Literacy" for degree completion.
6. I decided to do the BA in Liberal Arts, because liberal arts classes are easy to find and complete through many resources completely ONLINE. I will leave the specialty details to the transcript, and a future Masters.
So, there ya go. If anyone has rebuttals, PLEASE add some info to agree or disagree. I have not yet enrolled and will get as close as I can to completing all the courses I need before I do. Also, I was able to find the CLEP/DANTES, etc course equivalency page thru TESC's labyrinth of a website.

Dont know how I missed it before. It helped me quite a bit though, and instead of an "unofficial version", this one comes straight from the horses mouth.
I will be updating my adventures through this process on this page alone, so things can stay consolidated. I'm SO excited to finally be on the straights to getting this degree finished. Hope the above information has helped others with their deliberating as well.

COSC just recently started accepting FEMA credits raw, but, other than that, all of your reasons are valid. I chose TESC for those same reasons plus TESC accepted more of my transfer credits as upper level and I wasn't going to pay Excelsior to further evaluate some of the credits that weren't accepted right away. TESC gave me two very detailed evaluations without making me pay an enrollment fee. TESC's degree requirements for most programs are also more flexible.

How did you get a detailed evaluation without paying the enrollment fee???? Super interested to know, since I really think a few of my lower level Art courses would transfer as upper-level because although they are considered lower level to The Arts Institute, I have matched them to upper level "Major" courses at quite a few other colleges.

What Straighterline did TESC take as upper level? I know about Anatomy being a 200 level course, but are there some that are 300 or 400? That would help alot to have more options in upper level! Thanks in advance.

You just have to apply, pay the application fee, and send your transcripts
