TESC/COSC ....Im ready to register for evaluation. I need some advice(as always)
#1
Time to get the ball rolling.

In the past 4 months I've been taking Straighterline & FEMA courses and now I'm finally ready to take the next step on my quest. I need some advice on what to expect when applying for TESC and COSC.

How long does the evaluation process take?

Does a physical application have to be mailed into the school or will the online app suffice?

Application Fee. Can I paypal it?

Are there any common mistakes I should avoid?

How does the Straighterline/FEMA transcipt thing work?

PS.

I still have 2 courses (Alg. & Eng. 2) but I estimate I should be able to finish within 2 weeks.

Sorry for the laundry list of questions but you have all been so helpful. Now I need more degreeforum.net wisdom.

TESC takes 6 to 8 weeks (if I recall correctly) and COSC takes 3 weeks to evaluate your transcripts.

I completed all of my applications online.

I do not know if they accept PayPal. I paid with a debit card.

You should wait until you've accumulated all or most of the credits you want to transfer before you apply. TESC will give you two evaluations before you enroll, but will take an extra 4 to 8 weeks to evaluate a transcript that is sent later on. COSC will only give you one evaluation before you enroll. My advisor evaluated my transcripts before my community college transcript came in; my CC was having technical difficulties. The advisor told me I would have to enroll for him to add my CC credits to my evaluation. I was kind of irritated by that because i wanted him to wait.

You can fax or mail a transcript request form to FEMA and they are normally very quick about mailing it out and it's free. I believe the Straighterline credits would have to be added to an ACE transcript. The ACE transcript is sent out electronically and costs $40 for the first request and $15 for every request thereafter.

For COSC:

They will get you evaluated in a few weeks.

I did the online application only.

I don't think they take Paypal.

They will help you work out any kinks.

Both Straighterline and FEMA can be submitted directly. Once your enrolled just call straighterline and tell them to send the transcripts to COSC, no need for an ACE Transcript. Now with that said you may want them sent to ACE as well, no downside to getting that started really...then the credits you have earned are recorded somewhere. An ACE transcript will cost $40.

GREAT JOB ON ALL THOSE CREDITS!!!

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
