TESC BSBA PreCalc req. already have College Algebra
#1
Here's what I have on my academic evaluation:

F: Precalculus (Not Started)
> Take 3 semester hours of Quantitative Business Analysis or
> Precalculus. Students who have completed College Algebra
> should take MAT-129 to avoid duplication of credit.

Free Electives (6sh)
> Complete 6 semester hours.
Semester Hours Completed: 6.00
Src Course # Title S.H. Grd TESC # Notes
1.. MAT-121... College Algebra.......... 3.00 B-

The MAT-129 is supposed to be precalculus for technology.

Question: Does anyone know if I take the precalculus through ALEKS, would it meet the precalculus requirement since I already have the college algebra (they won't apply that)?

Does it make a difference if it's precalculus for technology (TESC) or just precalculus (ALEKS)? Will it be considered duplication of credit in my case?

I do have an advising appointment but it's not for two weeks.

You could try taking CLEP Precalculus. I don't know about the College Algebra thing, but TESC accepted my Precal.

Aleks Pre Cal should be fine. I have seen many people on the boards do Aleks pre cal for a BSBA degree.

The issue is not whether ALEKS Precalculus is accepted for a BSBA degree, but whether it duplicates College Algebra.

I am not sure about whether the ALEKS Precalculus would be considered duplication of credit or not (I never took ALEKS). But I know that CLEP Precalculus would be fine because it transfers as MAT-129 Precalculus for Technology. I had the same requirement because I had taken CLEP College Algebra. I decided to take the Precalculus for Technology course from TESC.

I looked at the ALEKS website and the topics listed for Precalculus are very similar to the Precalculus course I took, so I figure it should be fine. But check with TESC first. I would just send them an e-mail asking whether the ALEKS course would duplicate College Algebra.

Hope this helps.
