TESC BSBA Degree Plan
#1
Hey guys,

Due to some events in my life I took a much longer break than intended starting on finishing up my degree. I graduated in 2010 with my Associate in Arts from a local technical college with a number of CLEP exams already taken. I just got accepted back into TESC and am wanting to finish my degree this year in Business Administration. I think I've caught up on most of the changes in the last few years and plan on doing the per credit tuition plan. I plan to take at least one TECEP before June to get in under the current college catalog and avoid any forthcoming changes.

If anyone has time to look at my degree plan and offer any input I really would appreciate it. There are a few areas I have particular concern about:

* For the Intellectual and Practical Skills Elective requirement is there anything anyone could suggest that isn't Algebra or advanced math? Is there another technology related course/test I could possibly take to satisfy this beyond the Intro to Computing I already have?

* For the Diversity or Global Literacy requirement could the General Anthropology DSST work? I already took Sociology and Psychology and they were filed under Human Cultures and the Physical World for some reason. If anyone has a less difficult recommendation to Anthropology also I would appreciate it. Smile

* Are there any alternatives to the Principles of Statistics ALEKS or is that the best bet for that requirement?

* For my Business requirements I appreciate any input on my choices there. I'm trying to be economical and since I already have most of the Gen Ed requirements a lot of my TECEP exams had to go here I think.

* At the very bottom of my evaluation I have a section titled other courses. Do these count towards anything? Also is there any way to request to have either Psychology or Sociology moved up to cover a Diversity or Global Literacy requirement and one or both of these moved up into the Human Cultures and the Physical World or elsewhere?

OTHER COURSES:
Src Course # Title S.H. Grd TESC # Notes
--- ---------- ------------------------- ------- --- ---------- ---------

1 COL101 College Orientatio 1.00 A FEL-101 *TE*CC
1 SCI150 Forensic Science I 4.00 B AOJ-280 *TE*CC

Thank you in advance!

For diversity, take intro to world religion DSST. You can do Computer courses in the intellectual and practical skills section, so you have intro to computers CLEP, fundamentals of cybersecurity DSST, or the Management Info Sys DSST. Or TEEX courses might fit.

Do the Prin of Marketing and Prin of Management CLEPS, those are fairly easy with study.
CLEPS Passed: 10 DSST Passed: 11 TECEPS: 1

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Ask them to move the following:

1. Sociology from Human Cultures to Personal and Social Responsibility

2. Marriage and the Family from General Education Electives to Personal and Social Responsibility

3. Technical Communications from General Education Electives to Intellectual and Practical Skills

4. English Literature I from Free Electives to Human Cultures

5. Solar System Astronomy from Free Electives to General Education Electives

6. Move the Other Courses (Orientation and Forensic Science) to Free Electives

Then:

7. Take the Kaplan PLA course (PLA 100/200) for 3 no-cost hours to finish off General Education Electives

8. Take one of the no-cost NFA courses to finish the remaining Free Elective

You will still need to complete English Comp II, Statistics, and Ethics, but apart from those, the above should fulfill your General Education requirements and Free Electives.

Good luck!

Thank you both for the helpful responses! Smile

Sorry for what probably is an obvious question but how would I go about having them move stuff around? Can I request that now or do I need to be enrolled for my first TECEP first?

I'm currently working on my TEEX courses. It's nice to finally be on the road to completing my degree again. Smile

From what I've read on the forums I gather after I enroll for a TECEP I'll be considered an actual student of the college and will be able to then contact either the registrar or adviser and request my courses be shuffled around on my evaluation? Can someone please confirm this?

Thanks again in advance!

I'm about half-way done with the first TEEX course. I'm pretty tech savvy so I was surprised to find I'm learning a lot more than I expected. That's a good thing of course. Smile

Also, I wasn't sure if they would do this or not but I got an email this morning TESC has completed my re-eval of my transcripts I re-sent them (before I realized they still had them saved from my first time applying) and shuffled everything around just like you guys recommended earlier in the thread. I'm feeling pretty good about my progress right now!

I finished all three TEEX courses by early April and started the ALEKS Intro to Statistics but got sidetracked with Lasik Eye Surgery and the recovery period from that as well as vacation so I just finished ALEKS Intro to Statistics this evening.

Anyways my question is:

Once the course has been approved and added to my ACE Credit Transcript am I able to go ahead and cancel my ALEKS subscription? Does the ALEKS account need to stay active until TESC has added it to the transcript or is it being added to the ACE transcript enough? I have at least one more course I'm going to take and use the ACE Transcript for so I don't want to have to order the transcript twice if I don't have to but I don't want to risk having to take Statistics again either.
