TESC/ Aleks & Intermediate Algebra
#11
Lindagerr Wrote:Tesc has been a pain in the a$$ about it but they previosly gave me creit for Aleks Begining algebra as MAT-102 (Under E Natural Sciences) they game me credit for Aleks Intermediate algebra as Mat-115 (Under D Mathematics) They say on their web catalog that CLEP College math is 6 credits Mat- 102/Mat-103 so Aleks would duplicate part of that. I also had CC Colege algebra Mat-121 and College Trig at CC Mat-129( I think this is now called Precalc) They went under General Education requirements. What degree are you going for Finacial World? I think you might be ok with your plan depending on your degree ( I have a total of 60 math/science credits only 16 of them are upper level) But I did start my Math/Science BA before the rules changed.

I'm getting a BSBA in Finance. These math courses will go under Natural Sciences/Mathematics. Here is what's already listed in my eval:

I just need another six credits in there (besides the planned SS&H CLEP)

If I took the ALEKS Intermediate Algebra and Trig, would that duplicate anything? Would trig duplicate my precal?

With TESC Trig and Pre-Cal duplicate each other.
Here is the last break-down that I've seen.

TESC Aleks evaluation

003 College Algebra- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra w/trig
004 College Algebra with Trig- MAT121 *TESC Duplicate College Algebra
005 PreCal- MAT129 *TESC Duplicates Trig
006 Trig- MAT129 *TESC duplicates PreCal
007 Intro Stats- STA201
008 Business Stats- OPM351
009 Stats for Beh. Science- STA199

Thanks Bricabrac-I will update my list. Haven't really paid attention to the changes that have happened with the STATS courses. My son is taking the Intro to Stats at the moment with no plans to take any of the other Stat courses~that is unless he decides to major in business, which I don't think will happen but who knows.

Thanks again.

Ok, thanks everyone.

I plan on taking:
Intermediate Algebra- MAT115
College Algebra- MAT121

I already have on transcript:
Precal - Math-129
Genereal - Math-102
General - Math-103
So I should be OK. It doesn't look like anything duplicates.

You are good to go....it's so much easier to backfill.Big Grin

Does TESC give credit for ALEKS Pre Algerbra?

Pre-Algebra is probably a good refresher but is not credit earning. TESC only awards credit for the ACE recommended courses. Unfortunately most who have posted lately are no longer receiving credit for beginning algebra. To be safe you should begin with Intermediate Algebra.

Here is the link to ALEKS ACE credit recommended courses.
