TECEP's & Cornerstone
#1
So...last week I applied to TESU so I could take the English Comp II TECEP. I ended up applying and paying the $75. I just tried to register for the TECEP and they are telling me I have to take the Cornerstone in order to do the TECEP. Is this unavoidable? Should I just bite the bullet and pay the $300 for the Cornerstone?

I would like to eventually get a degree from TESU. I currently have over 60 credits. English Comp II is my last General Ed requirement. I haven't sent may transcripts to them yet. Should I do that now?

Thanks in advance! Everyone here is so helpful and I really appreciate it! Smile

It is possible to avoid it by waiting until you have 104 credits transferred in before you enroll, but that leaves you exposed to catalog changes between now and then. Unless the $300 is a real problem, I'd probably just do it. It would be the path of least resistance.

Thank you for the feedback. That's kind of what I was thinking, too. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some way around it.

What happens if you enroll for both the TECEP and the cornerstone, then go back shortly and drop the Cornerstone course?

Pretty risky with possible repercussions, but I'm just thinking out loud. you'd eventually have to take it down the road anyway.

That's a new one. I'm thinking I might fight it if I were you.

Are you actually trying to enroll as a TESU student at this time or are do you just want to take a TECEP? If the latter, just phone them and explain that you're not a TESU student.

The cornerstone is a new requirement for TESU students. It is automatically added to your registration. Someone had the same problem and was going to contact TESU, not sure what the outcome was. You might be able to get the cornerstone waived.

If you qualify for the waiver (have 104+ transfer credits), you can call TESU and they can sign you up for a TECEP without having to enroll in the Cornerstone. I did this and it was no problem.

However, Likiro doesn't have that many credits yet, so if they are actually enrolling as a matriculated TESU student at this time, they'll have to take the Cornerstone.

If they want to not enroll as an actual TESU student and just take a TECEP as a non-matriculated person, then they shouldn't have to take the Cornerstone, as it is just for TESU students.

I just emailed TESU and asked if I could delay taking the Cornerstone since all I will be doing for the time being is taking TECEP's. I'll keep you posted!

I don't want to lose out on the jan1st deadline so I'm not going to take the cornerstone. I have over 104cr, though. Would I still need to take a TECEP to become an enrolling student? If so, I'm just going to bypass that and pay for the in-state comprehensive plan. I'm tired of waiting lol
