Are any of the TECEP exams open book like SL? For each TECEP exam, there is a list of recommended texts, and some members on this forum says questions sometimes comes directly from the text. I would like to get and study the correct text book.

Yes, but it's rare. The english comp exams allow a writing guide and dictionary, the fed tax exam allows the textbook, check the test description for details. You can also confirm with the testing office. For example MAT105 does not mention the textbook but the OL/GS course format allows the textbook for both the midterm and final exams.

Well that sucks! Did you mention it was allowed for the course exams?

I did mention it.
From Thomas Edison catalog, "Most TECEPÂ exams are closed book. If materials are allowed it will be noted in the test description for that TECEPÂ . It also will be stated on the front cover of the test booklet at the test administration or in the online testing instructions."

This is the response sent to you from the testing office?
I know they are happy I'm done with my undergrad degrees. I don't give in so easily. I argued, and won, quite a few unfair decisions as an undergrad. This is the second recent issue I would have argued, quite passionately. Just with "MOST"at the beginning of the sentence, I would have fought tooth and nail. MOST OL/GS courses do not allow open book exams. There are only a FEW that do and if I had to go through each syllabus and test description to document, I would have. I absolutely love to fight the good fights, and this is definitely one of them. Oh well, I'll use my talents elsewhere; these instances no longer effect me, other than to piss me off.
My apologies for veering off the initial conversation.

Bricabrac,
This is what I wrote:
"I would like to clarify information about MAT -105 TECEP. In TECEP exam details pdf I didn't find if it is permitted to use a scientific (nongraphing) calculator and the authorized textbook. I saw that the course MAT-105 Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics midterm and final exams are both open book, but not open notes and the calculator is permitted . Is this true for TECEP too?"
This is TESC reply:
"You can use a non-programmable calculator with the TECEP exam. No other materials are allowed. Have a nice day!"
Can you teach me what I should write to them in order to use the textbook on TECEP? I will gladly do it.

Federal Income Taxation allows you to bring a tax guide/textbook and a calculator in with you. Just took that one today!
