Switching from TESC to Excelsior or Charter Oak
#21
sanantone Wrote:They are all TEEX courses. CIS-299 is Cyber Security for Everyone; CIS-344 is Cyber Security for IT Professionals; and MAN-299 is Cyber Security for Business Professionals or something like that. They are worth 2 credits each. The new DSST for Fundamentals of Cyber Security duplicates Cyber Security for IT Professionals, but is worth 3 credits instead of 2. I figured these could be argued for acceptance based on APUS' program inclusion an information security course.
Will TESC give u the chance to adjust LDAS if they agree with the plan but not some of the classes?

Yes, you can always submit another plan. I tried to submit a plan for the BSBA LDAS (security management), but they didn't like the criminal justice courses I used. They said that they had approved a security management plan before, but the courses were very security specific. That's why I suggest using another college's security management program as a guide.

Hopefully my last question for the day. When you fill out the application, how do you list the courses that you're planning to take at another institution (i.e. the PF or TEEX), especially when there is no like course offered by TESC.

I just guessed at the equivalencies. You should be able to match up the Penn Foster courses by searching the PLA database. Just typing in "AOJ" should give you all of the criminal justice PLA courses TESC has evaluated. You can also search by the course title. Terrorism is a social science course offered by TESC, so that's easy to compare. The TEEX courses already have equivalencies. The XXX-299 courses are just generics. In those cases, I would just list TEEX, the course title on ACE, and the course equivalents. CIS-344 is Computer Security.

If I'm looking at this correctly. I will need:

Straighterline Business Communication
Straighterline Acct 1 & 2 for Financial and Managerial Acct requirement
Straighterline Business Law
Straighterline Principles of Management
Penn Foster/TECEP Strategic Management

12 more credits for Gen Ed Electives
- looking to take the following
SL Intro to Philosophy
SL Environmental Science
SL American Government
TECEP CIS 107 (or will this move into my business electives)

Are there available equivalents for Principles of Finance and Bus in Society on Straighterline?

As far as the LDAS portion goes I would need 18 more credit hours with 12 being UL?

And 2 more credit hours in general business electives? (Pc Apps, PC operating systems, non profit mgmt)

So, your plan is to only take Straighterline courses? TESC placed SL Business Ethics in the Business in Society slot for a member here. There is no SL option for principles of finance. PF offers Financial Management, and there is also the DSST. Yes, you will need 12 UL credits in the 18-credit specialization.

I forgot about Propero, but they charge $299. They have an Intro to Finance course. They also have an Intro to Homeland Security course, which should be UL at TESC. And, I forgot about your APU courses. You might be able to use those. You should definitely try to put the UL one in there.

I prefer the SL method and I think it'll end up being much cheaper for me. I for see myself finishing all the SL courses within 3 months even with extra studying for the Accounting courses.

Doing it this way saves me about $1500 making the enrollment fee much easier to afford.
