Do you know if they require the accuplacer test, or would they take her SAT scores? I’m going to check out their website this weekend. I’m really crunched for time with the ACE credit change. I may do the transcript thing with Excelsior that I read about on another post.
From TESU website:
- Applicants (degree seeking and non-matriculated) who are 18-19 years old, and who do not meet the military criteria for admission may apply for special consideration via the following requirements:
- If you possess a high school degree, GED, or a secondary home school diploma that meets the requirements of the applicant's state of residency, and have earned a minimum of 24 credits from a regionally accredited college/university with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
- Complete the Age Waiver Petition Request Form
Applicants (degree seeking and non-matriculated) who are 18-19 years, and who possess a high school degree, GED, or a secondary home school diploma that meets the requirements of the applicant's state of residency, but have earned LESS than 24 credits or have earned their credits from an approved University course provider who is not regionally accredited, must take the Accuplacer, Next Generation examination within 30 days of applying and achieve scores of:
Reading Comprehension: 236 or higher
Sentence Skills: 241 or higher
Arithmetic: 216 or higher
Thank you! So, they are the same as TESU. She’s going to take it next week.

Excelsior doesn't care about the Accuplacer test at all. Nowhere on their site is the Accuplacer test mentioned.
With Excelsior, you get a $0 application fee for taking 2 or more Sophia courses. You also get discounted tuition when 12 or more credits are taken at Excelsior instead of just the 7 minimum. https://www.excelsior.edu/partner/sophia/ If she wants something beyond a BALS, this could be a good way to go.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

That’s great news. I’m sending her scores to Excelsior tomorrow and I may go ahead and have her apply also. She’s going to take the accuplacer next week because we already paid for it. But it sounds like excelsior might be the best option. I’ll have some time this weekend to explore more.
Thank you!
