New Starting from Scratch

I am hoping someone can give me some advice on a degree plan. I paid for my application fee to TESU and I received my Academic Evaluation. I am not sure were to go from here. I was going for my BSBA accounting, finance or ??? I would like to get my Associates degree as I am working towards my BSBA. I have received two certificates for Microsoft Office and Computerized Accounting, unfortunately TESU will not give me any credit for these certificates.

I have so far:

ECO-100 Basic Economics
CIS-107 Computer Concepts and Appl

Electives:

BUS 161- Business Mathematics
BUS 101- Introduction to Business

Hey, moved this for you so you could get specific help.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

I guess I don't know why you're unhappy. Is it because TESU won't accept your certificates? They don't accept much, and most schools won't just accept those kinds of certificates. Were they ACE-approved? TESU is very good accepting anything that's ACE-approved. But, even if they were accepted, I don't think you'd get many credits for them (maybe 1-3cr per cert).

COSC is supposed to be pretty good about taking different certs, you might contact them and see if they'll accept them.

I can help you with a degree plan, but I think you should probably first do a little bit of research. I always think spending some time on this forum, doing the research, is your best first step. There are so many different options that it can be hard to even understand what people are talking about, let alone follow their advice. I could give you a plan, and you'd have a million questions for me: why did you tell me to take a CLEP here? Why a DSST? Why Saylor? Why a TECEP? Are there other options?

It's much better to spend some time on here, getting to know the different options, so that you can decide what's best for YOU. No one else can decide that for you. For instance, I am an ok test-taker, but my CLEP/DSST testing center is far away, and a pain to deal with. So, even if it's more expensive, I'm always going to choose a different option if I can. You will have different reasons for your choices, and that may even change over time.

Once you spend some time (maybe 1-2 months of just reading new posts as they pop up on a daily basis, going to the beginning of a post and reading it all the way through, looking at dates - because things change over time), you will start to feel more comfortable with the process and with the lingo (abbreviations, etc.). Then, you can start to get a feel for how you want to structure your plan, and we can help you more.

A good place to start is the TESU website, looking at the degree plans, as well as at the GenEd page: Thomas Edison State University | General Education - 2016 or After and the TECEP page: Thomas Edison State University | All TECEPÂ Tests. Another good place is Sanantone's page showing the different options for the GenEd's: Sanantone's TESC General Education Options After July 1, 2015 - Degree Forum Wiki - Wikia.

Then come back and start asking more questions, it gets easier to figure out over time.
