First a little about me I have managed through life experience to get very good paying jobs, but like most who work for big companies I was recently let go  due to the recession and I made the choice to change my career and it will involve college to succeed.
I appreciate any and all help to guide me through the proper way for me to go about CLEPing all the prereqs I can to be accepted into the Physical Therapy Assistant program. The wording for the listed CLEP study guides are different and I want to be sure they are applicable to my requirements.
These are a list provided by one of my local colleges.
Thank you all for your help and I look forward to using Instantcert.

Someone will come along and help out with the CLEPs. I want to recommend you look at Clovis College and New Mexico Junior College for A&P and medical terminology. Both are very cheap even to out of state students. and you can take them completely online including lab. Excelsior does offer am A&P clep but I doubt it will fullfill your requirements. Other than these I suspect that most of your list has a compatable CLEP
Good Luck !

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Welcome to the forum!
Others may be able to address the various subject matters you listed but what I can help you with is from first-hand experience. Since you will need to be working with a college/university toward becoming a physical therapist, you need to do your homework up front to make sure you are not duplicating your efforts - wasting time and money is not what you want to do.
Go to your prospective college(s) and specifically as them about their policy on "accelerated learning." Most of them post them on their internet sites but make sure the information is up to date. Usually they will list the total number of credit hours you are allowed to accumulate using CLEPS, DSSTs, AP, ECE and other credits. In addition, most of them will have a list showing which CLEP equates to which of their specific courses and course numbers. Anything beyond that you will have to get with a counselor and get it approved IN WRITING - that cannot be stressed enough. Verbal is not enough in these situations with a B&M (brick and mortar) school.
Once you know which CLEPS and/or other tests they accept and what they equate to, the choice of what to take becomes easier - if your goal is to speed things up....which is what most of us are trying to do.
If your choice is a State college, you can run a computer search on the State of ?? DOE (Department of Education) accelerated learning and you might pull up policies that are set by the State and all of their colleges (not private colleges) MUST comply with that list. Again, keep in touch with your counselor as rules can change along the way, but having the State list and presenting it to the counselor in a friendly manner, gave the counselor the information he needed to go further up the food change to get what I wanted to take approved (in writing), because they had to comply with what had been published by the state.
Good luck and happy hunting!

You guys are great. I'm really new to this school thing and find what most do that it's a little confusing. I will definetly check on the credits being accepted.
According to the CLEP college research page the college I'm looking at attending is South University at the Tampa Fl. location.
I can't agree more with getting in writing from a counselor that the CLEP credits earned will be accepted. (No point in waisting money or time for lack of research)
I look forward to future posts on this forum you all are very helpful.
Thank you, Again...cheersmate

You have to be careful and ensure your school accepts the CLEP/DSST tests that you want to take. Most schools have a list of accepted exams and what they are equivilant to. I know my school does this. You can then matchup the accepted tests and courses that you need.
