Quote:Since you have my notes and feedback it should prove easier for you. But cramming cliff notes for an exam doesn't prepare you for the day your supervisor walks up to your cubicle and asks you to prepare a draft marketing or business plan on a product/company he is looking to purchase.
Haha, you're the one who didn't read my post brother. I said people can cram in any course(B&M, online or test out exam), whereas self-paced is the best learning environment for myself, as I've learned much more from it then regular classes. Nice personal attack by the way. The reason I have your notes is because I'm engaged, someone in the community recommend your notes and whilst reading the book is good it's always good to be prepared for the test. You yourself don't even just hand out the notes, people have to ask you for them, that takes some sort of initiative right?
Quote: Or, your manager could request a cost analysis on outsourcing a department/division. Or, he/she may want you to prepare a risk assessment on opening a satellite office in another town/state/country; would you even know where to begin?
With a competent mind, worst case scenario you can just google it.
But yes, this can be learned through reading books and testing yourself on the chapters, no need for a $1500 course.
Quote:Many have failed the TECEP exam without direction. Especially those who did not have any work experience that they could pull from to help craft the essay responses.
If people have failed the TECEP, they obviously have not invested enough time in understanding the concepts of Strategic management, whether that be through life experience, work experience, reading, videos etc.
Quote:If you have a degree in business, you would be expected to know basic skills and be able to quickly supplement that skill set by drilling down on company specific needs/goals while on the job. I am speaking from my own experience here. These are some of the reasons why certain employees can demand a higher pay scale, fast tracked promotions, receive bonuses and/or company perks while others could not. These examples are what sets employees apart and allows for quick movement within company ranks. Without the proper skill set you're dead weight and first impressions tend to stick.
Anecdotal experience is good, but it's just that, anecdotal. A counter anecdotal experience for example, is that a friend of mine majored in an irrelevant field and is now a marketing manager at Netlfix making 100K +
Did she learn the concepts from her BA? no. Did she learn research, writing, analyzing etc. Of course!
The rest was her own motivation and drive to learn things and she did so with her Bachelor's by starting as an intern. You're banking way too much on the fact that upper level courses(especially scheduled classes) give you everything you need in a business job. Whether people want to learn or just cram to get their bachelors is up to them. I choose to learn, and choose to do it at my own pace.

You are so right, you know so much more than I do! Congratulations!
Good luck in your future endeavors!

We both have opinions that are neither right nor wrong. I just feel passionately that $1500 is too steep for the capstone.
If people want to learn via scheduled class, they can do it that away
If people want to test out, they can go about their way.
There used to be the option to transfer in strategic management from other institutions such as community colleges, but that right has already been stripped away. Next to go is the TECEP, then all will have to take the course which may be much better than the test-out self study method for some people.
In the end, TESU will still be an affordable, timely way to earn a business degree, and some may even like the added benefit of receiving a GPA.

I registered for this today and I clicked the Business Administration Capstone and it is automatically adding on a 1 credit - Lifelong learning course. Is this part of the Business Admin capstone? It says I need to pay I think it was like $440 but I can't get back to the page to pay for it so I think I'll have to call them.
Anyway, just want to make sure this is right.
Also it said I couldn't register for the online version - Does this mean I can go anywhere that does proctor u and take the pen and paper version?
Now I got further to the payment page and it is saying $300 for the one course. It's showing up as "first year course tuition" - Is this the way I should be paying, for the full "year"?
Is there a cheaper way to register since I'm only doing one exam?
Any help would be really appreciated as I am worried I'll miss my chance on this exam since they are discontinuing it. Thanks

That's the cornerstone course. You can get it waived if you either transfer in 104 credits, or got the study.com affiliate pricing.

So, is it the case that this TECEP is no longer available? As we've discussed, it's not displayed, but is it still available to take this session should I register? I haven't enrolled at TESU yet (just need to get this class for my degree elsewhere), and would hate to pay the $75 application processing fee only to be unable to take the test.

You can't get this class elsewhere if you plan on getting your degree from TESU. You have to either take the TECEP or the class. Only two options for this requirement at TESU. If you need a Strategic Management course then it may work at other school I am not sure, but if you plan on finishing a degree plan at TESU in Business then you need this requirement.

Thanks! I didn't phrase my question very well, what I meant to ask was if the test version is still available for registration. It will work at my school, but I'm really only interested in the test version, so if that's not available, I'd rather know before I pay Thomas Edison the application processing fee.

They do have a non-matriculated pricing on it, not sure how to do it or what it costs, you should contact TESU about it or maybe someone on here will let you know. I think its is like $250 if you just want to take the test.

I checked it out on OSS and it says there are 37/50 slots open for the April term of the BUS421 Tecep Capstone, so looks like you're good to go and sign up for it.
