i'm new to all of the different ways of testing out of classes and am currently trying to plan out how to test out of gen ed classes
i've read alot about clep and was about to register for the english clep at my local cc. however, i just started seeing straighterline in the forum and was wondering which would be better to do.
either way i go, i will get 3 credits for eng101, but which one is recommended? i'm not that great english.
my other concern is eng102. i can clep out of it, unless the SL class is ok'd by fort hayes.
if i were to use straighterline, i could possibly finish both english and the math courses in a month (which would be cheaper than to clep out of both).
i have no problems doing either.... i just don't know which is easier.
thanks in advance!!

Does Straighterline actually count as Credits or do you still have to CLEP out? It looks like only Fort Hayes gives credit right now?? Does anyone know?

You can use Straighterline for study and then CLEP for the credits. Or you can spend $30 to enroll at Fort Hays State University, then transfer the Straighterline credits to FHSU. The end result is graded credits from a regionally-accredited university which can be transferred to wherever.
$99 for a month of SL + $30 FHSU enrollment + $2 FHSU transcript = $131. With a bit of work you could complete two courses in one month at Straighterline. That would give you 6 credits with a letter grade, for $21.83 per credit hour. Talk about ROI, wow!

April 4 2009 through July 6 2009: 1 GRE subject exam + 1 Penn Foster credit + 11 DANTES exams = 61 credits. Average per-credit cost = $23.44.

You can definitely do both the math and english course in one month, and have it transcribed through Ft. Hays, I did it. It wasn't hard at all.

careful........the Eng. 102 cannot be transcribed by anyone yet. So, you might want to hold off on that one. But, the other too seems to be a good option.
When someone hears that Eng. 102 is transcribable pls. let us all know!
