Hello All,
Anyone decide on taking the FREE course from SL named Survey of World History?
I was just looking for extra easy credits and this happens to be free, so why not...
I noticed there's no text book, but there's a proctored final... anyone complete it yet?
Is the proctored final open resource exam then, meaning the course work is available to review while doing the exam?
Thanks Everyone,

I actually completed it 10 minutes ago!
In short, you have 18 chapters in 5 units, with each chapter ending with a quiz, which can be completed with the coursework. All these quizzes account for 70% of the final grade. I didn't really find the quizzes that easy, meaning that the answers were not that straight forward like with the other SL courses. I missed quite a few questions because of completely other wording and not really being able to eliminate wrong answers, so they are more difficult than I expected.
The final exam is is proctored, closed book meaning you can't use the course work. However, I found the exam quite easy in comparison to the chapter quizzes. If you read enough of the material, the exam should be easy-peasy!
The course itself is in acrobatiq and it's quite different that using a book. You have about 130 slides in total. I wasn't impressed with this format, but I didn't hate it either. It's just something to get used to. I really enjoyed the course in general, because I love history and it overlaps a bit with Western Civilisation. I found it clear and easy to understand.
Hopefully this helps you. It's free, so you can always try and if you don't like it, well you didn't loose any money
Good luck to you and everyone else!

I should probably also mention that the quiz grades need to be manually put in by the SL people, so they will not show immediately in your MyLine Dashboard. They do it a couple of times a week.

Is this another Acrobatiq course, then?

Hi, I'm taking Survey of the World right now and encountered a glitch. The last question on the Ancient Greece assessment got "stuck" as in I could not maneuver the green box into position at all. Consequently the exam closed out! No points were given period. Does anyone have any experience with Straighterline resting exams due to technical difficulties? I am frustrated to say the least. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I find Straighter line very customer friendly. I purchased a course and then found out I didn't need it, and they let me swap it out for another course. Another time, there were some technical issues with me taking a final, and the final didn't work at the time I had it scheduled (which was the last day of billing). They extended my window to take the final for a few days. Pretty cool Customer Service, open up a chat, and give them a try!

They've always been helpful to me too. More than once I had issues where the eTextbook didn't "activate" and they had to reset it so I could click the activation topic again. All I had to do was contact support and they took care of it right away.

Straighterline is the Nordstrom of E-learning - they are always down to help the customer. Since I took a decent amount of courses with Straighterline, they knew my voice and name well in CS. Listed below are my favorite experiences where they came through during a need I had:
Coupon would not apply to my account and Straighterline knocked it out for me.
Neighbor had a pipe leak during my exam - I stepped away to help and the time ran out. Emailed while at the house saying I was not going to make the time limit and the exam was reset by the time I got home.
Ordered the wrong course. Did this multiple times and Straighterline applied a credit for use on other courses.
Month ended (had no intention on paying for another month) - still needed to take the final and Straighterline extended at no charge for a couple of days.
The countless times I called and someone in CS gave encouragement or love on the progress is something that I look back on as their greatest service.
Used Nordstrom from the famous story of the man who attempted to return 'Tires' to Nordstrom and Customer Service accepted them.
Legendary Tire Story
As a 16-year-old Nordstrom sales associate in the late 1970s, Craig Trounce was a legend in the making. Thatâs when he was working in the retailerâs Fairbanks store, and an old miner walked in with a pair of dirty, worn tires. The man had purchased the tires several years earlier, and had been told that if they didnât work out for him, he could return them.
In 1975, Nordstrom had purchased local retailer Northern Commercial, which at the time sold tires. The man had a case to make, on a promise made in that very building, never mind that the space was now filled with pleated slacks and button-down Oxford shirts.
Trounceâs priority was to do right by the customer. He called a local tire dealer, came up with a fair value for the used tiresâ$25 for the pairâand paid the man out of the till. A legend was born.
