Straighterline Organizational Behavior Equivalency
#1
Has anyone recently had Straighterline's Organizational Behavior course transcribed as an upper-level psychology course (Psy-361) with TESC? If I choose to take this course I don't want to have any problems having it evaluated as upper-level credit. I submitted a help ticket to TESC which have them all of the required information regarding the O.B. course, i.e. course description, organization name, etc. This was there response:

"Good morning and thank you for contacting Thomas Edison State College's Office of Academic Advising. In regard to your inquiry, we do not pre-approve ACE recommended courses/exams for use towards remaining program requirements. The only way to assure that this Straighterline option may be applied to existing program requirements is by submitting the associated ACE transcript to the Office of the Registrar for review. Nevertheless, Organizational Behavior (SL0042) is presently transferring in as Organizational Behavior (MAN-311) and may be used as an upper-level Psychology option."

I'm hesitant on going further with this option because, as you can see, it "may be" used as an upper-level psych. option....

It transferred in as MAN-311 for me. When I do an academic eval for BA Psychology, it shows up in the Psychology electives section.
Currently studying for: Still deciding.

Very interesting. I need two more 300/400 level courses in social sciences. That'd be great if I can take one through Straighterline. Please let me know if you learn more.

Not sure where you are from but "may be" and "maybe" are not the same. Anyway, it seems TESC codes the straighterline course as MAN-311. The DSST exam can be coded either MAN-311 or PSY-361. The course fills a social science as well as business elective; I've used it for both.

Good luck.

Well,. . . any way you arrange the "may", it doesn't give a definite answer. Technically both versions still lead to an inconclusive response. But, thank you for the input. ;-)

This may not benefit our interpretation of the response you got; however, the sentence structure and word choice was poor. If you read "assure" as "ensure" as I am almost positive it should be, then "may be" is synonymous with "will be". I interpret it as saying that:

SL0042 is transferred in as MAN-311, and is able to function as upper-level Psychology credits. Although this is currently how the transfer functions, you are not guaranteed that this function will apply to you without submitting a transcript containing the course to the Office of the Registrar for review.

That is my interpretation. So the one responding has seen, as we have here, the course transfer as you would like, but no course is guaranteed to transfer a certain way without an official review.

I don't mean to sound sarcastic but have you read the psychology degree program on the website or catalog? (see link below) Org Behavior is listed under psychology electives which means it is an approved course.
