Straighterline Exams Timed or Not?
#1
Last Straighterline question, I promiseSmile

I have seen conflicting info on this, so just thought I would ask...Do The Accounting and Economics courses have timed exams and quizzes? If so, how much time are you given to complete them?

I am planning to sign up before the end of the week, and am hoping to complete all 4 courses within 28 days. I have been working through the textbook some already, but am just wanting to see how much I need to memorize/have written down in easily accessible notes before I actually am at the point of signing up and quizzing. Thanks in advance for the answers!

I can only answer economics...the tests are open book and have a 2hr time limit...but the testing window will remain active for up to 5hrs.Smile

for the quizzes, just go to the books website and review the quizzes 1, 2 3 from each chapter and you will be good to go. the quizzes are ungraded but i understand help with the test. I havent yet found the correlation.

From the feedback on the forum, many have completed these courses quick and easy. Personally, I don't like straighterline but I will have to stomach it to complete macro and maybe micro (not sure yet). It's cheap but enter at your own risk. Because I don't like it I've been putting off signing on. Only four chapter completed in two weeks. I chose to spend the better part of my time finishing up my TESC courses (GPA much more important than a pass/fail course) then playing with macro. I will now return to macro and hopefully complete the course before the next monthly payment.:ack:

Good Luck!! I sincerely hope you are one of those that blow through the coursework!Confusedeeya:

Also, do a search on the forums about SL's accounting classes. There've been several members that have had issues with Accounting II due to a bunch of errors in the McGraw Hill subject material. I know Janus was one of these users and might be able to shed a little more light on it.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am currently taking the Macroeconomics course and it really isn't as bad as I thought. I find this much easier than ALEKS algebra.

The quizzes are 40 questions in 2 hrs. So far I have not taken more than about 1 hr 20 mins for any of the 5 quizzes currently completed.

I have been reading a chapter in the book and then taking the quiz the same night. At the one chapter/quiz per day pace I am on will finish the course in about 3 weeks. (19 quizzes) I am trying to get 90% or higher to raise the GPA, which is taking a lot more time. If this were just a pass/fail for me I could knock this out in about one week.

For the most part the questions are fairly simple, however 20% of the questions are pretty tough and they take about 80% time required to take the quiz.

BTW, the questions on the quiz are worth 1 point each so in order to maintain an A you need to get 36 or more per quiz.

Good luck

If you just want a Pass/Fail, you can have your SL courses sent to ACE. If you want letter grades, send ur courses to SL's partner schools.

That is what I plan to do provided I do well enough on the course. I am enrolled at FHSU and registered with ACE.

The issue is that the level of effort required for 90%+ is significantly higher than just getting 70%. The way this is set up you really have to do well throughout the exams from the beginning. For every quiz you get less than 36 you need to make those points up on a future quiz, which I have found to be the challenge.
