Straighterline Ethers Propero
#1
Sorry about the slang term. Ether is used when someone verbally humiliates an opponent or wins a diss battle. It comes from Nas' diss track "Ether" where he annihilates Jay Z in a rap battle. When I googled Propero, this page from Straighterline came up in the results.

Actually, Straighterline has gone after everyone except for Saylor, DSST, ALEKS, TECEP, and Uexcel. They obviously haven't gone after Saylor because they have partnered with them on offering course materials for a couple of courses. They also can't go after Uexcel and TECEP because they are offered by partner colleges. If Sophia Learning and DreamDegree get as much notice as Propero, I'm sure they will go after them too.

I don't know why they went after CLEP since it's offered by the College Board. Straighterline has had 5 of its courses approved by the College Board for AP preparation.

I forgot that Straighterline can't go after Sophia Learning either because it's owned by a partner college, Capella University.

I regret taking courses through Propero. The cost for each course is four to six times higher compare to SL. I could retake SL course 6 times, assuming I failed five times for the course that I took through Propero. So, here are my thought about Propero vs SL:
1. Since Propero is new and doesn't have customers as much as SL does, the cost for them to operate the business is much higher. Hence, they charge more. They have promo code, but there is no place to put it at the time I purchased the course.
2. For new students that are afraid of proctoring exam. It is not hard to get at least 70% grade through SL, even for the hardest course that they have. You can always retake the course. It is cheap anyway. Just save your previous exams for your reference to study and guidelines of what the test look like. Since there are too many students have been taking SL, you can almost google the answer if you get stuck.
3. SL is way more established, they have chat/email support alive and available, relations with colleges/universities. You are more secure transferring your credit. Now, Propero only has one counselor, and I feel only one person deals with all students. I wasted my time calling tech support, email them, and they couldn't help because they are not familiar with Propero itself until the student advisor replied my email and escalate the software issue to IT.
4. I have taken several SL courses and I don't even care about proctoring exam because already get 70% or above without proctored exam. So, whatever I get in the final, I will always pass. If you want to get an A, just repeat the course until you get an A for cheap. The courses that I have taken, only take each of them once to get an A. I can always GOOGLE the answer. Google is more than books collections if some way, not all, but we all change to use search engine rather than going to library.
In conclusion, my points above should be enough to help new people considering Propero vs SL.

I believe that's called cheating (assuming you're doing it during the tests, which it sounds like you are). SL specifically prohibits the use of Google during exams. Academic Honesty Policy | StraighterLine

I was referring about cost of retaking courses at SL. Propero costs about $300, while SL is below $100 and many are $49. If I feel I will fail to get 70%, I can retake that course before final and review the graded exams I have taken. I can always google for more information. Besides the book publisher provides web companion for more exercise. That should be helpful. When I took SL courses, most exams are open book except FINAL. I combined reading ebook and google books. Anyway, to me SL online courses are very affordable compare to other ACE approves online places. And I learn faster this way!

My apologies if I misunderstood.
