Mostly online resources were used when my son did Comp 2 at SL - he found it a bit overwhelming at times, but he hates writing - hates it with a passion. I have a feeling your kids will do great.
ok thanks - one final question, do you know if you can work ahead on quizzes while waiting for a writing assignment to be graded?

I know this is directed to Rowan555, but I am positive I've seen people on here send in all the assignments as soon as they start the class (by doing them before signing up) and then work through the class while waiting for grades.

Yes, you can submit any and all assignments in any order - the only rule is that you must turn in all your assignments before taking the final. But you can take every single quiz prior to doing any essays if you like.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management
Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

I'm just realizing Comp may not have a proctored final - I was thinking about Communication - my son did all the quizzes but is having anxiety about the speeches, so he couldn't take the final because he hasn't yet submitted the videos.
So yeah, you can complete all quizzes in Comp while awaiting essay grading.

I can confirm, no proctoring in English II composition. Plus the quizzes were easy and short (some of them just 5 questions).

I am here also.
I was thinking TECEP, though.
8 papers? What's the word length / page length on them in general?
For the final, is there an essay, too?
Thanks!

SL English 1 & 2 don't have finals - I don't have word on the length of writing assignments yet, we're starting tomorrow.
You *can* get English 1 & 2 without any writing if you take the CLEP English Comp (without essay) and DSST English Advanced

I took note for only the final 4 assignments on English Composition 1:
Essay ~ Grade % ~ Word Length
Fable Narrative ~ 1%
Descriptive Paragraph ~ 1%
Summary Exercise ~ 2%
Compare/Contrast Assignment ~ 5%
Personal Narrative Assignment ~ 4% ~ 750
Persuasive Writing Assignment ~ 5% ~ 750
Argumentative Writing Assignment ~ 10% ~ 750
Research Assignment (draft & final) ~ 12% ~ This assignment should be a minimum of 4 pages (800 words). You should aim for at least 6 double-spaced pages (1,250 words), excluding the Works Cited page.
