Straighterline Eng Comp 2 Smart Thinking grade
#1
Question:
I just submitted my first paper for SL Eng Comp 2 and sent it in for review (by the way I like the submission process for Eng Comp 1 much better) I reviewed the comments and made a few changes. I then sent it for grading through smart thinking through the writing assessment link. I can see the review of the writing assessment and the amount of points I received but I don't see the grade translate to the "my grades" section of the course. Do I need to do anything in order to see it there? It doesn't look like I completed that but I did. HELP

Hi chiquitacobbe,

I'm still slogging away at Comp 1, but have noticed there is sometimes a delay between the time I receive my final grade/points for a completed essay and when I actually see the points added to the My Grades section. I don't know if it's the same for Comp 2?

Keep it up SuZQ2!! You will get through it.

It's wierd the points show up in my "assessment history" but hasn't showed up to My Grades yet. It's frustrating.

Hi chiquitacobbe, have your points finally been added to your "My Grades" yet? I'd consider contacting an Advisor if you still don't see a point update - I can't imagine anything worse than not getting credit for all the hard work you've put into these essay assignments!

In your opinion, is Comp 2 more difficult than Comp 1? As you know, it's taking me FOREVER to get through all of the Comp 1 essays. I get incredibly discouraged at times - the worst of it is is I have already accumulated enough points to pass, I just have to complete the last three (most difficult and time consuming) writing assignments to get credit - Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! Set my completion date for the year 2050!

STILL NO POINTS ADDED TO MY GRADES!!! Someone please help me with this. I have two more papers to write before I am done with SL courses and need to transfer them over to TESC. I emailed SL again and haven't heard a response yet.

That is my next step. It's just so frustrating and difficult during the day to make phone calls, but I guess I have no other way.

This same scenario happened to me too during the course. For whatever reason, they do not automatically update the grades to your grade book. You have to email the advisor and tell them that it's ready to be transferred. I had to do that every time I submitted an essay. Finally, they sent me a link to use to let them that it was ready to be transferred on the last two or three papers. If you email the advisor, they will send you the link. I agree with you that it is a royal pain. I don't know why they don't have a more user friendly system in place.

OMG! Thank you so much! I will try that. Is there a specific way to email an advisor? I will definitely try that. Eng comp 1 was so much easier and user friendly. Thanks again! I'll post back with an update.

They definitely don't make things easy, do they? It's been a couple of months since I took the course, so they might be doing a totally different procedure now, but you can email advisor@straighterline.com and ask. Just tell them you're taking the English Comp II class and that you've received a final grade on an essay and need your Blackboard Gradebook updated with the grade. Be sure to give the name of the essay(s) graded, date you completed it,and score you received. They'll either update it or let you know where on their site to request your grade transfer. My grades were always about 1 point higher than smartthinking once they were transferred. I guess Straighterline adds a point.
