StraighterLine has changed their pricing to the following 3 options. Pay as you go, 4 month semester, annual 12 month membership. In order to get the most out of your membership, I would recommend completing the 27 general education classes (17 classes and 10 labs if you need them) in the 4 month membership and then cancel it.
If you need specific classes then do one extra month for $99 and purchase the classes that are not offered in the discount 4 month membership. I would not recommend to do the annual 12 month membership even if you don't have enough time to finish, I would just add an extra month membership, a total of 6 months at most.
1) Pay As You Go
Enroll in courses as needed, with total flexibility.
Ideal for students looking to perfect the work-life-school balance on a course-by-course basis.
$99 / month + cost of course
Pay for courses individually
Renews monthly, cancel anytime. One-time course fee.
2) Semester Plan 4-MONTH MEMBERSHIP
Balance speed with flexibility.
Perfect for tackling your course load over multiple months, while keeping costs low.
$699 $349 / 4 months
Complete access to 27 of our most popular courses
Renews every 4 months at full price, cancel anytime.
3) Annual Plan 12-MONTH MEMBERSHIP
More time to finish more credits.
A must for students maximizing their credits and flexibility.
$1,499 / year
Complete access to 27 of our most popular courses
Renews every 12 months, cancel anytime.
You should compare this with the Sophia.org and Study.com discount offerings and see which would benefit you more. All three providers have started to remove the proctoring aspect of taking exams, thus, they will work with those who prefer none. I would check out the classes offered and decide which options would be for you.
Side Note: Before Sophia.org changed to a subscription at $99/month all you can eat for their 75 classes and Study.com offering a $95/month for 67 classes or $235/month for all their classes, I took over 34 classes from StraighterLine. This was at least 8 years ago when they had proctoring with ProctorU. Link: StraighterLine Pricing

Sophia really flipped the table. They just provide a way better deal and less service hassles. No per course fee which I was never a fan of with Straighterline, no buying expensive lab kits like SL has it. Just one fee and an all-you-can-eat course offering. Their only downside is that they don't have all the same science courses as Straighterline, but once they do there will be no reason to use Straighterline anymore.

Yes, that's why it's up to the prospective student to decide which of the three to go with... It'll most likely be a Sophia/Study.com combo, unless you can get any cheapies or freebies from other ACE/NCCRS providers of alternative credit such as Coursera, etc. I usually recommend that mix/match as not one provider has all the classes for max transfer.

I'm surprised to took StraighterLine this long to adjust their pricing. Paying a fee and a class fee is ridiculous in this day and age.

I guess everyone here is a lot more motivated than I am
if you work on your courses every day for 4 months then that's about 4 and a half days per class
EVERY DAY FOR 4 MONTHS
I go to the gym, I take BJJ classes, I work 8 hours a day and have an hour commute (and go home and watch video tutorials on tableau and power bi), I like to play video games, and there are a few tv shows I like to watch
If I followed my schedule it would take me at least 8 months

True, I had a similar schedule, but pretty much forced myself to get things done. I did 34 or more classes in 3 months! And that was with the ProctorU proctoring as well, I did back to back exams up until 4am in the mornings! Out of the 27, I would skip all the labs as they need lab kits.

The $349 Straighterline deal is still going, however, you need to access it through the SL partner pages. Choose the school you're transferring to, and get the deal. https://www.straighterline.com/colleges/
Remember, Straighterline courses are designed in a CLEP-like fashion, with assessments first. There's a reason for that: it allows learners to "test out" and accelerate speed to completion.
BJChueng77 laid out the checkpoints, benchmarks and capstones - these are the assessments, the places where you can quickly test out and move to the next.
The content is there for support if you need it. Most adult learners already have high compensation of course material - it's just a matter of "testing out" and using the content for support to learn where you need to learn. For example, most have likely taken chemistry in high school; leverage that knowledge and move quickly through the assessments that you know.
