Starting at Uofpeople Computer science
#1
I'm taking 1 class at a time while I transfer everything that I can in.

I'm half way through google ux certificate and just started the IBM Full stack development certificate. I know the UX certificate transfers as web development 1&2 but does the Full stack development certificate transfer in as tech electives or anything?

My goal is to take human computer interaction at WGU or the MSIT at Uofpeople ( whichever I can afford at the time) and become a UX designer/Engineer. I was going to go to UMPI for BLS minor psychology but I just don't have the money for that. I'm applying for scholarship to Uofpeople.

Google certificates are free to me and coursera monthly is a stretch but I may be able to cover with financial aid.  Sophia for a month I can swing but that's the most I can spend. I'm also doing Aleks for the required math (It's $20/month and I'll need more then the 9 weeks to learn math). So is it worth transferring in the full stack certificate and doing Sophia or is it better if I just take everything at Uofpeople? Will the IBM full stack certificate even transfer in? also have 9 GE classes to transfer in. Is there other google certifications that transfer in? Which ones are best?

I wanted to go to a self paced school to get done fast but that isn't going to happen. I'm worried about my ability to take 4 classes a semester and keep a 4.0. So I'm going to do self paced programs and transfer them in as I can. I'm disabled so I have VERY little free income and I have no financial aid left. I spent the early part of my 20's failing out of school after school. Passing 9 classes in 5.5 years. This is my last chance for a degree and to get out of poverty. I'm smart enough to do this but I have to be smart on how I go about it.

Now your probably thinking if you failed so hard when younger your "not college material" and "why bother spending the little money you have if your disabled" but even if I get my masters and I can't work traditionally (I'm hoping to land a part-time remote job even if it pays $450 a week) I can volunteer as a teacher at Uofpeople to give myself more purpose. So I'm not on a timeline but I am 40. I feel the best case scenario is that I take 2 classes a semester with the 9 week time table which would take about 3 years.

Any suggestions help sorry for the book.

The full stack one will likely duplicate your efforts on google ux certificate as it would also transfer as web dev I or maybe also web dev II, most of it will transfer as electives, one as database and one as programming 1.
Currently best to use Discords https://discord.gg/mdTXPt3bap and https://discord.gg/uopeople for credit transfer planning, some info is also on UoPeople reddit.

My suggestion for OP is to create a spreadsheet to reference and track your progress, here's the sticky thread with an example spreadsheet, you can save a copy and edit it, then put it on your one drive or google drive as a viewable file (not editable), link us to it and we'll recommend updates. Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-questions

For readers, here's the background and some extra information about OP's previous studies and their addendum plus template, we only have 1 grad and 1 about to grad from UoPeople that I recall on this board, the more info from OP the better we can help: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...re-courses

I'm almost finishing my BS in Computer Science, so I think I can help you a bit.

First of all, I would ask for a scholarship, if they have the funds and you show them your need, I think you'll get one.

Concerning transfer courses, you have equivalents for almost all courses, except Online Education Strategies and Comparative Programming Languages (and maybe the CS 1111 - intro to computer science).
The Coursera certificates that transfer are:
Google IT Support - For Computer Systems, Operating Systems 1 and Communications and networking
Google Data Analytics - Databases 1 and 2
IBM Applied Data Science or Data Engineering - Data mining.
Google Ux design
Google Cybersecurity - for electives.
- other Courseara certificate courses that have ACE evaluation also transfer, but those above are the most effective in terms of time and transfer, IMO.
- you can study those for free and only subscribe to take the tests.

On Study.com, you can take:
- cs 201 - Data Structures
- cs 305 - Operating Systems 2
- math 10 - Discrete Math

All other courses/requisites you can take at Sophia (check this: https://uopeople.sophia.org/), including math courses (Statistics/Calculus/College Algebra). Some are also available at study.com, but it is more expensive.

However, no matter how many courses you transfer, you still have to take 10 at the University. So, choose wisely what to transfer. I chose to transfer most of the electives and some of the courses that had bad reviews from others, such as web design.

By what you said, I would suggest you consider this to maximise transfer and save most money:
- do Google IT Support, Data Analytics, UX Design and Cybersecurity at Coursera.
- pre-study Sophia courses before subscribing. The courses I would start taking (if you haven't taking anything that transfers) are:

Intro to IT (very easy - satisfies natural science requirement)
Foundations of English Composition (easier then other courses that transfer - prepare your assignements before subscribing)
College Mathematics
Ancient Greek Philosophers (transfers as intro to philosophy - easy course)
Approach to study religions (easy course - satisfies Civilization requirements)
Art History II (easy)
Introduction to Statistics

Those are easy courses that you can probably do in a month, specially if you prepare your written touchstones before subscribing. You will also need Calculus, which I recomment to do at sophia as well. It is easier there, but not an easy course (I took more time to finish calculus than all those above).

My strategy for sophia courses was similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNbtrr3xOvc

My original degree plan (it may be outdated):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...ue&sd=true

Those were only my original choices for possible transfer credit, but I took most major courses at UoPeople.

On sophia, avoid taking Intro to Relational Databases, it had bad reviews. I forgot to suggest you to take project management, either at sophia or coursera

For Software Engineering 1, if you decide to transfer, there are courses at coursera, study.com and saylor.org that transfer. If you decide to take swe at uopeople, those can be electives.

Take a look at saylor academy (https://www.saylor.org/credit/courses/). Those courses are harder and not well organized, but taking a final exam would cost you only $5. If there is a subject you already know and there is a course, you can just take the exams and get the credit.

Well, I hope those suggestions can help you. Please check everything when doing your plan to see if my suggestions still apply.

To optimize finance, wait for "free transfer month", there is one each year. Though maybe it is also possible to ask for transfer fee waiver, I don't know much about that, just overheard.

It's free transfer month now! I just logged in to make my last transfer and learned that.

Are there ever application fee waivers? The best I was able to get was $15 application fee, never a waiver for applications at UoPeople.

Sometimes, but not very common, unless it is need-based.
