Study.com's Bio 101 has a virtual lab. Or maybe they will waive that requirement for you. I hope so.
So for anyone without a lab science, it might be worth finding one and doing it ahead of time and transferring it in. I for one don't really want to dissect anything at home, thanks but no thanks.

Hmm... Everyone is different, the majority of people who select competency based degree programs know the subject matter already (at least to a certain degree) and have decided that would be the cheaper/easier/faster option than say the Big 3. It all depends as well with the content being tested and how it's being assessed versus being about to go through alternative courses.
So many of the assessments/quizzes on the competency based degree programs are similar to what's offered with alternative test-out options or providers, the main difference is, you're using the "school's internal course system" vs taking and transferring courses from alternative providers. Some competency based providers are very similar to how Sophia.org/TEEX does things.

I feel a bit lost. The platform is easy to adapt to, but I am still trying to figure out how to present WIP for evaluation for the final. Someone stated to submit it early on so you can easily move forward on your final paper/project or whatnot. The 11-page requirements intimidate me.
The good news is they gave my TESU SOS 110 as credit for their ENG 121. On Monday when reading the syllabus, I contacted my advisor and told her about this class. I was asked to submit their syllabus, final project instructions, and instructor feedback. I submitted all of that as well as my final and they accepted it. I am very pleased. Ooh that's awesome. They took Conflict Resolution and Communication at work as BUS 210 to fulfill the COM 210 requirement for me.
Fundamentals of Technology was the LONGEST project I had at UMPI. The rest are easier!air that together with my university would give me a unique advantage. Shea is on maternity leave so there's a new contact email for us now.
So I emailed to see if I can Drop COM 210 as I still have Sophia. Hopefully, that will work. Thank you so much for sharing your educational journey. It has helped me immensely.

For me, I've been in business for decades so I already knew quite a bit of the material covered in my courses. My first term I completed 4 classes which means on average it took me 2 weeks to complete a class. My second term I completely 8 courses in 6 weeks. I worked really hard on those courses and spent several hours everyday reading, writing, researching, studying. On average people complete 3 courses in an 8 week term at UMPI. That's the norm. Don't worry about how quickly others moved through courses. It's called YourPace meaning move through the work at your own pace. We all have different experiences and prior knowledge. I already had an associate degree in business and several business classes from over the years.

Wow the progress everyone has made is awe-inspiring! I submitted my draft for Eng 101 yesterday and am awaiting feedback as I begin composing my Hum 103 assignment. I'm glad to hear they were able to offer a virtual lab alternative as I will probably end up requiring a virtual lab as well as I'm an intl student and would never receive the kit. I did contact Jessica about this previously and she said she would look into it but we haven't had any correspondence since. I really appreciate the staff at UMPI, every interaction with them has only been positive and they really are there to assist you. I even got tutoring to check my Apa formating just within a few hours.

Thank you portioa! I'm sure you can do it too! Also, you can ask for an extra class when you submit your draft! You don't have to wait 3 days doing nothing waiting for the draft to be finished, you can just start working on another class as soon as your draft gets finished up. Just email jessica and be like "hey my draft for Class BUS XXX has been submitted can I Get another one added?"
I also now have reported a lot of errors in UMPI's platform, they're minor like broken links to source articles, youtube videos, and I just found a page that was identical multiple times with different names lol

I think I got an "incomplete" on communications class. I submitted it twice but I'm so bad at speeches. I've had social anxiety all my life. I wonder what happens now or if it will update to a grade I got A's in all my other 4 classes. I don't even blame them if they don't pass me. My speeches were so bad.

Did you submit a rough draft? If you did, did you receive feedback from the professor? If you're struggling with anything, I highly recommend emailing your professor and set up a meeting with them. In my experience, they have all been very helpful and understand that there are limitations with an online course. They know that they don't have much interaction with us. Some classes are more challenging for some than others.
Since you have an incomplete, reach out to the professor. You need at least an 80 to pass the class. Every class requires an 80 to pass.
