Spanish

Hello all,

I was wondering about the audio portion of the Spanish test. I see how Peterson's lets you replay it. On the real CLEP:

- Can you replay it?

- Can you only play it once for a group of questions, or can you play it over again for each question asked about the same sound byte?

- How much time are you allowed on each section, and how many questions do they ask you in each?

- Are there photos on the real test? (I noticed you could answer some of the questions based on the photos!).

I'm still learning Spanish so I go a little slow at it. I took the audio portion on Peterson's and only missed 2-3 in each section, but I went way over the 15 minute time limit. (I had 30 questions!) I know sometimes Peterson's doesn't give you a lot of time, so I thought I would ask about the real CLEP test.

I don't know if I'm the best person to get advice from since I failed it last week. I didn't study for it but I thought my previous knowledge (HS and College, 15 years ago though) would get me at least 6 credits. I got a 47.

You can't replay the audio and the conversation is normal speed but seems so much faster when you're not a native speaker.

I don't think you have to worry about the time so much.

There was 1 map question I couldn't give an answer to for some reason so it was left blank. I should've told the proctor but I'm not sure if even she would've known how to handle it. Plus I was so lost I thought that 1 question wouldn't make a difference.

Overall, I would say it's doable I was surprised I almost passed and I guessed a lot.

Hi!
I passed this one a few months ago! I am not a native speaker but took 3 years in highscool and really enjoy the language! The only thing I used was the REA books with practice tests w/ audio. I did not know about Peterson's at the time and I also used some online conversations to listen to some native speakers. You only hear the question spoken to you once, and they give you approx. 10 seconds to answer each question for the audio portions. As a warning, the audio portion was really bad quality on my test and a lot of times just couldn't make out the words that they were saying...but maybe it was just me and I did not know enough! I do remember them having several pictures with some of the audio portions. I think the written portion is what helped me to pass this one! I had to do a whole bunch of guessing on the audio portion! I know that you will do great though Smile Blessings ~kelsey
