If I'm fluent in Spanish should i study anymore than a 2-3 hrs? i figure the test is probably going to be more focused on sentence structure and spelling right? it's my first language.. I'm wondering if i should even study at all i might just take it cold!

Let me google that for you
Seriously though, if you're legitimately fluent, this test should be more like a formality to you. At least according to what I've heard. Just consider that this is a language comprehension test designed for people who learned Spanish as a second language. Free credits for you, I'm guessing.

LeekyLeek - I would also recommend checking out the Official CLEP Guide and/or the Peterson's online practice tests. These will give you an idea of the test set up for each section and what will be covered. It is always helpful to know at least this much before taking an exam so that you aren't caught off guard by anything.
Zillal - I have seen the Schaum's Outline for Spanish recommended. (There might be two - one for grammar and one for vocabulary, like there is for French.) The exam is 40% listening, so you'll want some practice with that, too. I'm going to try videos at learner.org (for French and they have Spanish and German, too).

I have already taken a Spanish course. I am going to take some time to learn French and German and try to take those CLEPs. Leakyleek - Have you considered ACTFL? Depending on your school's policy, you may be able to get more credits for Spanish than the CLEP test offers? There's some info at the bottom of this informative post: http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...ight=actfl

Nevermind that's the Virginia Modern Languages Association's Proficiency Exam.. i wish i could take that one lol
So yeah ACTFL is a oral exam and you get 12 credits? I'll have to email TESC and see if it's accepted. |
