Southern Nazarene U, Inexpensive Credit Bank for Military & Military Aspirants
#1
A helpful poster writes on r/SophiaLearning on Reddit,

Quote:I asked a recruiter out of state and he showed me SNU (Southern Nazarene University) they have a program for people who are trying to join or already in the military and allow you to get your credits evaluated with out enrolling, submitted them on Friday got them back on Tuesday morning paid $35 in total $25 to get them evaluated and $5 to send to them and $5 to send to my recruiter, this is definitely the way if your trying to enlist

Southern Nazarene’s policies for their actual students indicate some acceptance for a variety of credit sources including nationally accredited, ACE, NCCRS, CLEP, DSST, AP, and IB. For international transfer credit for actual students, SNU asks for an evaluation by SpanTran or WES.

Credit Transcription

"SNU will carefully evaluate your Sophia coursework, any military education/training courses, or other accredited college credits, transcribe all eligible credits onto an official SNU transcript, and walk you through your next steps toward enrollment. You’ll also receive personalized guidance on military education benefits, tuition assistance, and ROTC opportunities. Our experienced team is here to make the process smooth and straightforward — so you can move forward with clarity, confidence, and momentum."

So from what I'm hearing, this may be a powerful tool for those that want to complete their CCAF since they wont take direct ACE credits like Sophia or Study.com. This may change the entire game for service members.

I wonder if this may be a path for students interested in UMPI. Since they've tightened up their transfer credits from Sophia and Study.com, I'm curious to know if a transcript from SNU could circumnavigate this. I wonder if a course that was recommended by ACE that is on an official college transcript from SNU would come over to UMPI as a course equivalent.

This could also work for students at TESU needing RA credits or at Pierpont. I'm going to give it a try and see what they take from my Credly transcript between Sophia, Study.com, Straighterline, and Coursera.

I don’t expect this would help “launder” or “wash” credits to UMPI or TESU. UMPI and TESU do work from what the original source was of each credit. And in the UMPI tightening UMPI is still accepting courses, just placing more of them into electives rather than specific degree requirements especially in business.

Occasionally, a chiefly brick-and-mortar destination school doesn’t have an absolute policy on ACE/NCCRS but instead will consider the judgment of another school. This could help in that case.
