Looking for some insight or advice, thanks.
I started with TESC March of 2011. Before I started I had all of my previous education evaluated, including military service and military training. I chose a major, BSAST in Technical Studies, and they applied roughly 50 semester hours towards my degree. I completed some FEMA courses and one CLEP around May of 2011, and have been taking classes at TESC since then. In March of 2012 I completed 6 CLEP/DSST. Today they gave me some credit for the tests, but not all... that is a separate question.
My big dilemma is this... They removed 18 semester hours from my evaluation... the reason is that I must demonstrate knowledge in that subject due to the credits being over 10 years old. Why was this not mentioned in the last 16 months? If I had known this I would have researched other options/schools. Does this sound legit?
1.. ELT-102... Basic Electronics Lab.... (3.00) --- ELT-102 *PL *DOC *NE
1.. ELC-323... Radar.................... (3.00) --- ELC-323 *PL *DOC *NE
1.. ELD-311... Microprocessors.......... (4.00) --- ELD-311 *PL *DOC *NE
1.. ELC-201... Electronic Commn Systems. (6.00) --- ELC-201 *PL *DOC *NE
1.. ELM-171... Diagnosis & Troubleshooti (2.00) --- ELM-171 *PL *DOC *NE
*DOC Course is 10 years old, and demonstration of Currency must be met.
*NE Non-course Equivalency
*PL Planned Credit

It seems that you could demonstrate currency by petitioning with this form [pdf] and a "demonstration of currency conference." (That form is for Applied Science and Technology; for Business Administration, here is the form for Business Administration.)

Seems odd to to change it after acceptance. TESC outlines (very briefly) a generic policy and the technology/business related policy on page 40 of the degree planning guide ( http://www.tesc.edu/documents/Degree_Pla..._12.09.pdf).
The catalog ( http://www.tesc.edu/documents/College_Ca...1-2012.pdf) has the policy on page 89 and says they notify you when it is evaluated. If they evaluated it and then changed their mind that sounds weird. As long as you were enrolled then I would expect that the credits wouldn't be affected. Definitely make an appointment with an adviser. They good thing about this policy (I know you won't want to hear it) is the outcome is to get the credits back. How that is done is up to them (ways are mentioned in the policy) but you should be able to get the credits back if you have had updated experience in that field.
Good Luck.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

FYI I've had TESC screw up my credits before when they receive new transcripts (tests, etc). They seem to do an evaluation all over again. I've challenged and had them correct the mistakes. But those were simply TESC moving credits around in ways that made no sense.
Are you using TA? If so they probably waive the 10 year requirement. I know they did for me, some of mine (CCAF) are almost 20 years old. My OSS progress report explicitly states they are granted exceptions and accepted. I didn't have to do anything for that, it was automatic.

The credits are 15 years old. So it looks as if they did a complete assessment and moved things around. I should have close to 100 semester hours and now I am down to 61. I will definitely make an appointment to get this straightened out.

I'm not sure if this might be a factor or not, but unless you are actually enrolled your credit eval isn't written in stone. When a new catalog updates you fall into those new rules until you are actually an enrolled student, so if changes have happened within your degree since last eval that could account for changes. I have had that happen to me in the past. Good luck in getting this resolved.

I have been enrolled for over a year with no gap in enrollment. I am going to give them a call next week as I am on a business trip and don't have my copies of my previous evaluation. It's just annoying that I should be under a year to graduation and now they are saying that's not true.
Thanks for the responses.

I had to show proof for my credits - basically I emailed them a current resume, including job duties and continuing education. I sent proof of membership to national organizations related to field It wasn't that big of a deal, although at first I thought it was! Anything to show that you still retain and have utilized the knowledge related to the technical course should work.
Next Goal - MS in Pharmacy, Major Pharmaceutical Sciences, concentration Forensic Science via University of Florida

This will be interesting for me, because I sent my CCAF transcripts for credit to TESC, and it was all accepted leaving me only approx 40 credit.
But that was 6 months ago as I have worked on my tests. Now I have to worry that they will be removed.
Excelsior on the other hand accepted none of them, even though I used the longer than 10 year form, here was their reasoning.
In the past EC has had the opportunity for CCAF staff to actually attend a School of
Technology faculty meeting for additional insights. After the faculty
meeting, the faculty decided that while some electronics/electrical theory
is covered in CCAF ELT department courses it is not at the same level or
depth that one receives in traditional course (s) in a electrical
engineering technology program. Therefore we pre-emptively duplicated ELT
1106: Intro Digital Electronics, ELT 1203: Solid State Principles, and ELT
1713: Trans/Recvr Systems because they will duplicate courses that do meet
the core requirements.
DSST- General Anthropology - 52, Intro to Computer - 469, Technical Writing - 54, DSST Ethics in America - 59 (1996),
CLEP- Sociology -54, College Math - 550(1996), CLEP Principles of Management - 60 (1996)
