A score as low as 50% on the Peterson's exam can be enough to pass the real CLEP. Sociology is a pretty easy exam, and I think that the majority of the people on this forum would agree that the information in IC will adequately prepare you for it, especially if all you need to do is score 50 or higher.
The scoring system can be tricky to get used to when you first start taking CLEP exams. It seems like you can be absolutely clueless on so many questions and still get "better than passing" scores. Some of the questions may seem like they are coming out of nowhere even when you are doing a great job!
This is not an exam to be afraid of.

As great as IC is, you should seriously consider other sources of study too; see below.

I agree with Brian. Try the REA guides (with CD included), they cover the info well and provide practice tests too.
Also, don't fear the sociology test, it is not bad at all.
Good luck!

Just remember that this sociology test is like a pebble on a mountain.
"Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain." ~Author Unknown
Just keep working at it and study as much as you can. Sooner or later you will cross the mountain of graduation!

Don't stress. The peterson exam is harder than the clep. If you know the IC flash cards (and the info with the answers) you are ready to take the test. Quickly go through the flash cards one more time and then go take it. This test is not that hard...you can do it!!

I looked at the practice exams that you can print off and those seem to be more of what I have been studying, I don't get the difference between the test you can print off and the timed test???

After you took the first peterson's did you go back and read All the answers and explanations I always felt this helped me learn more for the real thing. You need to relax and make sure you read the question thouroughly. You CAN do this
