Search Engine Tricks?
#1
Hey Gang,

I'm trying to filter threads on "TUI", but when I enter the three letters the search engine replies with "too short" or "too few letters". I have some success when entering the word "Touro", but the school was sold and TUI is the official name now.

I appreciate any tricks you can share.

Thank you, Icanstudy

Also try this:

barcotta Wrote:When I first joined the forum two years ago I posted this exact issue. I was gently pointed in the direction of the "Google Site Search" option which exists under the "Search" heading. This was added as an option for this very purpose. Try it--it works well.

I'm so grateful that Barcotta posted this. I've needed it for a long time.

me too- thank so much!!! I had always thought that other google search was to search the web using google. Wow, now I feel silly considering all the time I wasted trying to find things on the forum in the past.

The above worked fine, but for the life of me I cannot find the "Search with Google" under the "Search" option here on the forums.

I'm the guy who usually wanders by the item I'm looking for in the grocery store five or six times before I see it, so I may just be blind. I'm also using Chrome, so perhaps it's a browser issue.

When logged out, “Search” is on the top right of the page (in Internet Explorer); click that. Then you will see the top box is marked “Google Site Search” and the bottom box is marked “Search Forums”. For short word searches like GRE, use the top box marked “Google Site Search”.

When logged in, “Search” is closer to the top middle of the page. The rest is the same.

Jonasling’s idea is great to use for any search of an individual website.
