So Sick of Royal Wedding

When I was 15 I woke up at 4AM to watch Lady Diana become Princess Diana. 30 years later and I had to do it again. It just wouldn't be the same if I Tivo'd it and watched after seeing the ending already on 46 channels. What amazes me about it is the history. In 1066 William the Conqueror came to England and started building the abbey they were married in. Edward the Confessor, the King William replaced, is buried in (or maybe under) the room where William and Kate signed their marriage documents. Isn't that amazing! Almost every king or queen was crowned there. Here in the US we just don't have that kind of history. The oldest historical things we have are 1600's. I also find it as fascinating as watching a Disney fairy tale come to life. For some reason, it wasn't the wedding that made me emotional. It was seeing an estimated 1 million people gathered in one place, waving the Union Jack frantically, and cheering their future King and his bride as they rode in the carriage through the streets on the way to the palace. You just don't see stuff like that every day. It's a shame that the media focuses on the hats and all that crap, so I deliberately didn't watch anything except the coverage of the wedding itself, and I fast forwarded through a lot of the junk.
