Edit Reason: cuz i think slower than i type
)
I'm going to followup to specific threads I posted before (answering my own old questions in a way in case others look and find the similar topic in a search) as well as write up some reviews of things, I just wanted to share that I took my Principles of Marketing and Principles of Management tests Friday Jan 5th and passed both apparently really well! Modern States paid for both and everything. So I had to say thanks to people here who gave me some handholding and tips and told me about everything in my mad sick scramble to get this done... I dont think I could have gotten it done without a bunch of little contributions of people here who told me stuff. I'll share all the details when I make some bigger post followups but I figured i'd share the small factoids to start.
I still got terrible scores on the Instant Cert studies. >_< Something like 25% or less. I don't think for me it remotely represented my actual test scores because I was too confused by the wierd question wording and fill in the blank nature.
On the Free Clep Prep practice exams (I ended up getting the paid MGMT package at the last moment too and am GLAD that I did) for Management first I got 79% and then 75% (didnt take the third), for Marketing first I got 82% and then 77%. (I think those are out of possible score of 100) I didn't take the third of either/too burned out by then. I think both well represented what I got on the actual test.
On my actual IC tests I got 69 points on Marketing and 67 points on Management - I was at first disappointed but was then told that an 80 is max possible score, that a 50 is like a C (not verging on flunking, just verging on not getting desired credit), and that both scores were really good. I cant find any B/A equivalent scores since it doesn't work that way (I see a few opinions but they dont agree with each other) but maybe it's even A material??
I don't feel I overstudied, nor do I feel I understudied. I wouldn't have wanted to go in knowing much less - I still missed questions (and saw questions that I didn't hear ANYWHERE in either study material). I'll provide full reviews of FCP and Modern States and IC soon for what it's useful but the quick version is... damn FCP, you work. And Modern States alone was not enough for it but both together were great. (it's too bad FCP doesn't have study guides for everything) Both seemed to fit the cram'n'slam need just fine. FCP alone might help you pass but the extra depth of understanding added by MS (in addition to them paying for it) = totally worth it and not much extra time to do.
The only thing i'm waiting for now is my appeal process at my college to try and get the credit applied as relevant to this spring's financial aid calculation since it was technically done before spring classes started. (as if accepted it pushes me into sophomore instead of freshman authorizing $1000 extra finaid which I desperately need) Once I find out that i'll be back on, post followups, and play catchup. I just wanted to share the tail end to my little journey since xmas to show that I wasn't a flake (just kept having bad stuff happen - I didn't mention everything but since starting studies I fell on the ice breaking ribs, caught pneumonia, caught whooping cough, and was in the ER three times... so if people wonder why did I not just rush right in and get 'er done... there was kind of alot going on in addition to trying to do pay work... all that wierdness was part of the reason for my "panic") and hopefully now that i'm past my crisis-credit need, the next ones can go a little easier.
I plan on taking six more CLEP's and having Modern States pay for it if they continue to do so, am just deciding which and why so far, though I think my next two are going to be Intro to Sociology and English Composition to be finished by May. If anyone has any tail-end questions from seeing my past posts here they want faster responses to, you can also post here as i'll only check this thread until the rest of my new spring semester (19 more credits of physical classes to resume now, yay) is slightly de-janked and I have the time to catch back up.
