Hi everyone, I have taken US History 1 and I am about to take US History 2. I know nothing about Psychology, Sociology, Macro or Micro Economics. I need 6 credits and I am wondering if I should study for Social Sciences and History CLEP or could just study for two separate tests. Which one would be faster and less work? I like the idea of six credits but if I have to study Psychology, Sociology, Macro and Micro Economics then I think it would be quicker to take another history test and something else. Any thoughts? I have not taken a Western Civ test is there very much on the SS and H test? Also on US history 2 does anyone know if there are any questions on Amendments or Executive orders? Thanks,

I don't know about SS&H (studying for it now), but I've taken US History 1 & 2, and on US2 I didn't get anything on executive orders, but you should know your amendments (especially the later ones), as well as
the civil rights movement and cases. Hope that helps!

When I took Social Sciences and history I took it after doing the US Histories, WCs and American Gov. That said, I only spent a week on it and didn't focus at all on Sociology, Psychology, or Economics. Like you I knew nothing about those topics going into the exam... and while that's 30% I chose to just focus on the 70%. Can't say it was the best move but it worked... passed w/ a 58. I WOULD suggest learning the basics briefly. You won't be asked anything deep in any topic so don't stress to much on that. All in all, I'll bet SS&H will be your best bet, especially since you'll of finished both US Histories.
Like Westerner stated, you'll want to know mostly the later amendments and I never had anything on Executive orders either. I don't suggest spending much time on any battles except MAYBE the most significant ones concerning the WWs. Vietnam is a different story, there were a couple questions on the Vietnam War on my test. Also, as crazy as this sounds know about Elvis and Jazz... lol I had more questions on Elvis and Jazz then I did on both World Wars combined!

I've taken everything on the SS&H list except psychology and anthropology. I took SS&H after the others on my list.
I'd say it depends on your prior knowledge. If you already have a good grasp of history you might be fine taking the SS&H. I don't know you so I can't advise you too well. I finished this exam in half the time and enjoyed the surprised look on the test administrator's face.
Publius gave good advice for SS&H. If you decide to take two 3credit exams instead of SS&H I recommend clep marketing and clep sociology as the easiest. (just unplug your memory and let it drain after the sociology exam. their theories leave out the biggest factor, you know what that is.)

I agree on Clep Intro. Sociologyâthat had a lot of vocab to memorize but was overall not too hard.

Thanks guys. I think I might give it a try. I don't have very much knowledge in the Western Civil and world history. Do I need to study for those too? Basically I only have the knowledge from US H 1 and 2 and the common sense God gave me. I am still open to all the advice people are willing to give. Thanks again!

Best of luck to you!

This test is a lot easier if you have already studied for many of the subjects covered.
I was in a similar situation. I had only taken US History and American Government. I had no interest in the other social sciences. You will need to learn the basics on several of the new topics. I know I did not do well with Western Civilization and some of the economics questions. REA does a great job for preparation. Also, reading through all of the relevant practice tests in the Official CLEP Study Guide was a huge help.
Studying for this test may help you find other exams that you would like to try, too.

Sociology and psychology overlap each other. I recommend sociology, psychology, and then Human Growth and Development psychology in that order. The two U.S. History exams don't overlap much at all. They have just a little overlap on constitutional questions.
