Second TESU Major help (history or pysch. )
#11
davewill Wrote:You need to understand that double majors (like your marketing and accounting example) are pursued at the same time. A second bachelor's is a different thing where the first one must be finished before any part of the second is begun. I'm not sure getting one at the same time from COSC is doable, I think you would run into issues.

The following article explains both options at TESU.

The Secret to Earning a Second Degree | Thomas Edison State University

I appreciate all the advice and input. I'm not looking for a 2nd AOS for BSBA - I probably will pursue an MBA at some point, so doing that would be pretty meaningless for me unless I was doing accounting and wanted to fast-track a CPA(which I am not passionate about and will not pursue).

I will possibly get a 2nd bachelors in history or psychology as I have mentioned. I am not looking for an easy second degree.
For me it is just as much about learning more about these subjects.

In my freetime, I sometimes just listen to audiobooks like The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Volume I Audiobook | Edward Gibbon | Audible.com and psychology courses I have taken thus far, as well as life experience, have led me to have a passion for psychology. My brain always wants to do ten things at a time, and while I can't choose all of those things, I don't want to contend with just having one of those things. So that's why I've narrowed it down to history and psychology - sorry if there was any confusion.

Thanks for the help and advice Smile

So, you can't double-major in a Business degree and a History/Psych degree. The BSBA is it's own degree program, and a BA in History or Psych is completely separate.

You can get your BSBA, and then go back and get a second degree in History or Psych (or both simultaneously as a double-major).

If you want to do this, you would need to get your BSBA, and then after your degree is conferred, you can go back like swalke321 said and pursue that. The one thing we think is certain here is that if you want your BA after your BSBA, then your Gen Ed requirements are waived, and your $2,000 residency fee that will come due for the BSBA (assuming you have to pay that) will still be good for a year, so there is a big cost savings there.

The thing that is unclear is that if you pay the residency waiver and then pursue the 2nd degree, will that waiver last longer than a year. There have been conflicting reports here about that.

So, my advice is to get the BSBA, and then if you're going to do the 2nd degree, to get started on it quickly and apply for your 2nd graduation within a year.
