Clepclep Wrote:Yes you are right. You don't need to put the SS no these days. I was told college board changed the rule and now they are not taking ss number due to some problem.
That is what my test administrator told me.

As a TCA, I always tell testing candidates that entering their SS# is optional with CLEP. Back in the day, all college records were stored under your SS# (that was your "student ID#"). This is no longer the case. If candidates ask me why they would need to enter their SS#, I say it really depends on whether their university requires/needs it. And, yes, it is much easier for CLEP to pull up your record by using your SS#, especially if you have a common name (another way, though longer, to look you up).
I have not received any communication from CLEP with instructions to no longer have candidates enter this information (if they choose to enter it).

Thanks everyone for your responses. All very helpful!! I will check with Collegeboard just to make sure they received my score, but it does seem like the new policy is that you don't have to use your SS# anymore. I was just concerned how they would effectively keep track of it with only a name & birthdate considering the fact that some people have common names. But my name is not too common, so I don't think I'll have much of a problem with it. Thanks again for your replies.
