Hello all,
I have finally decided to return for my degree. I am currently anticipated to start WGU Dec. 1st and have a few questions.
1. I am taking the Straighterline- Organizational Behavior course. I see in the syllabus that the tests are as follows
Graded Exam 1 125
Graded Exam 2 125
Midterm Exam 250
Graded Exam 3 125
Graded Exam 4 125
Final Exam 250
Total 1000
My question. It takes passing the course with a 70% to receive the credit for the class. The way I did my math, if I got all the points from the four exams and midterm, and I completely hack the final, I should still get a 75% correct?
2. Have any of you used the quizlet sets for this course? Did it help on the final?
3. If it is that easy to get the needed 70%+ what incentive is there to completing the final?
Thanks in advance
Scott

1. The final exam for most Straighterline courses is worth 250-300 points which means if you ace the quizzes and midterms you can pass most courses before even having to worry about the final exam. But not everyone can easily do that.
2. I haven't taken Org Behavior but I have taken a number of other SL courses and I found that the Quizlet sets are all over the place. They are created by other students so they are only as good as the notes they came from. Personally, I found it more effective to make my own Quizlet sets by adding vocabulary words and other key terms/concepts as I read through the textbook.
3. Easy is relative. Not everyone is capable of passing all the quizzes and midterms at 100% but most people should be able to get pretty close if they pay attention and use the book resources. In general, if you're able to get close to 100% on the quizzes and midterms you shouldn't have any issue with the final exam anyway. I ended up getting 100% overall in several SL courses because I was so focused on acing the quizzes that when it came to the final exam it was a breeze and I got 100% there as well. Either way, even if you end up getting 700 points or more before getting to the proctored final exam, you still have to complete it to finish the course, it so it isn't like you can skip it. However, if you don't care about the final grade you can just pick every 'A' response and complete the exam in like 2 minutes if you like.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that Straighterline includes a letter grade on their transcripts, and some colleges honor those (like Charter Oak) so there is a benefit to scoring well on the SL exams if those transcripts are ever used for GPA purposes now or in the future.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23
