Hello All!
I received an e-mail through the UMPI system with an invitation to join The Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement SCLA. I've never heard of them before now and wanted to ask around before joining. There is a one time cost of $ 95.00 to become a lifetime member. It grants some kind of certificate and access to their "platform", but I have no idea what that means. I imagine a few of you may have had similar e-mails at some point and know more about the society? Are there any benefits to becoming a part of this organization?

I haven't joined. I've been getting the emails since 2020.

I think there is a thread about this in the WGU section? If it's the same thing, it sounded kind of scammy.

Thanks. I had done an initial search and turned up nothing but I'll go have a look there. I'm sure it's a legitimate organization, but I am just questioning if it will have any use for me to be a part of.

Found the thread. It was a very similar institution with the same sort of offerings and it was not very well regarded by most of the folks on here. I'm going to take a hard pass. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

I don’t have first hand knowledge of them, but it does remind me of the old Who’s Who Among American High School Students that went around when I was in school.

Yikes. Bullet dodged
. I am a little surprised that they are able to piggyback through the university email like that.
