I love the REA books.
One thing you get with a REA book is excellent writing. The best way to improve your writing is by reading and writing. When you read short flash cards you just don't get the same exposure to narration that you get when reading a full book. So that is an added benefit of REA over flash cards.
Also check out spark notes. They have good coverage of economics.
Make sure you focus on the graphs. Understand what it means to shift a curve to the right or left. Thoroughly understand that.
