This thread is about eight months old, but since it's been brought up, I wouldn't choose any occupations with long apprenticeships. It takes a while to make it to journey and master level, so you're not going to be bringing in six figures right away. Even after you make journey level, most people make six figures by working 20+ hours per week in overtime.
If you meet the requirements, some police departments start off paying more than $60k per year, and there's usually plenty of overtime. The hiring process can take several months, and the academy can be anywhere from four months to nine months. After that, you may not get the full salary until you complete field training.
